Pete

I was shaking my head all the way down to where the drama club was gathering waiting for me.

As usual, Earn always had this way of catching me off guard. I wasn't aware how much I missed his presence until I saw him mischievously hanging out at the booth.

I can't actually believed I agreed to having dinner with him. Am I that desperate?

Anyway, I was glad I did agree. I still didn't know what I was thinking but I guessed, I have to cross the bridge when I get there.

I was still thinking about the incident earlier, and knowing that Earn was only a few meters away had my heart beat really funny.

I looked at the students who were looking back at me. Some were smiling, others had their questioning look. While others seemed to look disbelieving. I mentally checked myself. That was when I realized, my cheeks were numbed.

Was I smiling the whole time?

I tried to clear my throat and switched on to my default stoic face.

"Okay, everyone! Take your position! Pleng, guide everyone."

I said, as I tried to take my dignity back!

The actors where already on the stage waiting for my cue. I calmed myself first and reminded myself to be professional. I can't act like a sixteen year old love sick fool! It was just Earn, I thought.

Wrong move.

I smiled even wider.

I was doomed.

It was already 7 in the evening when we finished.  I was glad I had with me students who were serious about their crafts that made it very easy for us to get through with our rehearsal on our first day. We still had so much to do but with how the practice went earlier, somehow, my stress and apprehension were lessened.

I was giving out few pointers when Pleng called my attention. I looked at her with Earn in tow.

"Right, everyone, this is your senior, Earn Anupart of the Humanities department. He'll be taking over the musical scoring for this run, since your P'Sung is still uncomissioned. I believe, we should thank him for saving us all."

I almost rolled my eyes at how Earn looked so proud with himself. He returned the waiis and thank yous the drama club gave him.

I gave a few more instructions and the schedule for the next rehearsal before I let everybody off.

I was expecting Earn to stay buy I was dissapointed when I didn't see him around. I checked my phone expecting his text but I had none.

I thought, it was wrong for me to expect, really. After all, it was Earn, he's the most unexpected person I came to meet.

I left the cultural center after a short talk with the utility officer and went straight to the car park.

I was about to open my car when a hand beat me to it.

"You promised to have dinner with me tonight, remember?"

I looked up to see Earn with his usual mischievous smile. I was taken aback.

"Why?"

I blurted incoherently.

"What do you mean why?"

Earn furrowed at me.

"I mean, why are you inviting me to dinner?"

Earn leaned on my car in a manner that stopped my breath for a nano second.

"Let's see, what do you think. Why?"

Huh! I didn't realize how much I missed bantering with this guy. Not that I'd tell him again. But I can't seem to hide my smile.

"I don't know, maybe a bribe for letting you in the drama club?"

Earn nodded and and folded his arms together on his chest. Wait.  Why was I noticing his every move?

"Why do you think I wanted to be in the drama club?"

I raised my eyebrows at him.

"I don't know, it had been a dream since childhood, maybe?"

Earn smirked.

"Or maybe... I want to hit on the the drama club adviser."

Was it wrong to genuinely enjoy this?

I smiled heartily.

"Pau is married already."

Earn smiled back.

"Yeah. That was why I had no choice but to go for you. What do you say?"

Why did it feel like, I was gonna melt any moment at that?

I need a breather.

"Okay, where's your car?"

He stood straight and faced me.

"I had Jek drive it for me---wait! Before you can think of anything unnecessary---"

I glared at him.

"I wasn't saying anything!"

The asshole rolled his eyes at me.

"Yeah, but your face was saying a lot!"

I gave him a disbelieving look.

"What was my face saying then?"

"Do you really want me to spell it out!?!"

"Yes please."

I said sarcastically.

"Why was he with that Bisexual jerk again!?! I thought it was clear to him that I'm jealous---!"

My free hand landed on Earn's head all the while the asshole was laughing.

"I wasn't saying that! And hey! I never said I was jealous, how dare you!"

Was it really that obvious?

"Look, babe, really, I had him drive my car so that either way, you'll have no choice but to drive me home."

Did he just call me babe?

Holly Molly! How am I even breathing!?!

"Whatever, just get in so we can get going!"

He held his right hand open.

"Give me the keys, Let me drive."

I shook my head.

"Nope! This is my car."

"I know! I just want to drive. I love driving you!"

I gave him a stink glare. He smirked.

"Around. I love driving you around town. Besides, you don't know where we're going, it's a surprise, so come on---"

He was wrigling his fingers and acting all cute and chummy. How was I supposed to resist?

I slammed my keys on his hand and circled to the passenger seat.

"Seatbelt, baby!"

Earn reminded me when he was finally able to revive the engine.

"One more of that, and I'll definitely kick you out!"

I was trying to get him to stop calling me with gooey endearments because sooner, my heart can't take it any longer.

"What?"

"You know what!"

He shrugged.

"Sorry, I don't know what you're talking about, babe."

I glared at him before he started driving.

He started singing along with the radio as if nothing's happening. All the while my heart was crazily beating.

No.

I refused to give in.

But why was I smiling?
