Pete

Monday.

And I was late for my 9:30 World Literature class. I was debating of whether I should come to school today or stay home and wait for my heart and ass to heal but I remembered that I had some stuff to go through for the upcoming mid term exam.

Urghhhh. Sometimes it just really sucked to be a teacher.

I stood straight while waiting for my turn on the biometric daily time recorder. There were still at least 3 teachers from other departments punching in their prints. And another minute off my salary. But who was to blame anyway? I shook my head.

I was feeling fine, both emotionally and physically on both upper and lower parts of my body. Those parts weren't hurting the way they did back on Saturday and Sunday. Trek was still trying to get to me so I had to let my simcard go and change my number.

After what happened two nights ago, I realized that I still needed time for myself alone. What happened with Trek made me realized that. I may forgive Trek soon but I was never getting back together with him. That I was sure.

It was finally my turn on the biometric machine when I heard a banshee like wail.

"Aiiiii Pete!"

I turned to my back and saw my friend/co teacher approached me.

"I had been calling you over the weekend and I didn't even get a period for a reply and now you punched in late! What was wrong with you?!?"

Trust Pau to speak louder than necessary. She started teaching almost the same time as I did. We were almost the same age and had majored in the same field so we instantly clicked. She basically became my bestfriend over our stay at the university.

"Can you please turn it down, Pau, my head still aches you know!"

I massaged my temple for emphasis. We we're now on our way to the Languages and Letters Department. All the while, Pau rolled her eyes.

"If you keep an asshole for a boyfriend, you'll definitely have headaches on a regular basis."

Pau was very vocal about not liking Trek for me when we started dating. Even when Trek and I officially dated, Pau just kind of tolerated the fact but didn't really approve of it still. Trek on the other hand, never exerted and effort to win Pau over, come to think of it, I should have considered it as a red flag. Stupid me!

"Well, news flash! We're done! Over! I'm totally sexy, free, and single!"

I plastered a big smile and waited for Pau to scream in jubilation but it didn't happen. Instead, I heard her asked in a bored tone.

"Until when?"

"What do you mean?"

"Until when? That's what I meant, I've heard about you leaving Trek twice and I got disappointed twice as much!"

Pau pushed the glass door in to the faculty room. The room was deserted. Everyone's on their classes I presumed.

I deposited my things on the first cubicle at the last isle. I was stationed next to Pau who was busy re touching her make up.

"This time, it's finally over! I swear!"

Pau squinted her eyes at me. Then, she smiled.

"Well, in that case, come home with me later, Mom arrived yesterday. Let's celebrate, I'll have her cook adobo for us."

Pau was a Filipina. She came to Thailand to look for a teaching job after she graduated and had her teaching license in the Philippines.

She did land a job but not before she found love. She was on her third year being happily married to a Thailand based Korean businessman.

"Do you really want to celebrate in my behalf, or you just want to make Tae jealous again?"

Pau's husband knew that I'm gay, but he still didn't want me too close to his wife. He made that very clear. But Pau, being the crazy person she was just gave Tae's jealousy an uncaring shrug and would often use the fact to tease her husband.

"He may have mentioned that he was flying to Korea for a 3 day seminar next week. I just want him to know what he will be missing if he does that."

Pau gave a sly smile. I rolled my eyes at her.

"Grow up, Pau! You can't have your husband all to yourself. Besides, he's doing it for you! And your fixation over stupid shoes."

I earned a smack from her.

"I'm a grown up woman and my shoes are not stupid. Now, get going to your class so that we can leave early for our adobo and your confession as to why you went MIA over the weekend."

I shook my head. I just knew Pau won't let me go that easily.

She pushed me off my chair and out into the lobby. I took my phone and checked the time.

20 minutes late. First time in five years. I heaved a sigh, bid Pau goodbye and went straight to class.

I went inside a hall of almost 25+ students either studying or sleeping. I believed sophomore year does that to you. Specially for literature majors in the middle of the semester.

"At ease everyone!"

I said in a very loud, serious and commanding tone.

I saw some studenst scram to their proper seats and places. Some were groggily but quickly wiping their sleepy faces.

I couldn't blame them tho. Professor  Vachiravit was known for being a young feisty and no joke professor.

When I finally saw everyone presentable and on their wits, I started reviewing the lesson we had the previous meeting. Everyone was participating, much to my delight.

I was in the middle of processing a student's answer when a loud moan---the kind that shouldn't be heard around an academic institution--- roared inside the hall that made the whole class burst into a fit of laughter.

"Quiet! You think this is funny?!"

I gave my most demeaning look. Everyone stood still and kept quiet except the moaning. If anything, I thought it got louder and louder.

"Who is that?"

Nobody said a word. Instead, they turned their heads in chorus to the farthest back. The tables were down the floor with racks and cupboards for students' things to be kept, so whatever was happening on the floor to its side was never visible in mine.

And so, I walked towards the moaning  sound to see for myself.

There, on the floor, I saw a student sleeping on his back. Mouth slightly parted with his right hand covering his eyes and the left one rested on his stomach. He was sleeping as if he's the most precious creature on earth.

By the sleeping stature, I could tell he's not in this class. I pretty much knew everyone in this class.

I cleard my throat three times to get sleeping beauty's attention, but each time, my actions got drowned by his moan. What the hell was this kid dreaming about?!!

I finally raised my right foot and used it to poke sleeping beauty by the shoulder. I did it three times, each time, forceful than the other.

I felt the body stirred. And the scandalous sound stopped.

The then, laid arms were plucked off from where they were placed. A set of brown eyes locked into mine. As the eyes slowly broke into smiling orbs, mine got wider in horror.

There, lying below me on the floor, head closed to where my feet were, was the hazy stranger from two nights ago! I was drunk maybe, but those features were hard to be forgotten.

Was this a dream?

Why was this guy even in my class?

Was this even possible?

I could be wrong though.

The guy in question stood up. Dusted himself off and faced me. He blinked twice. Smiled at me. And answered all of my internal monologue.

"Hey, there, bud!"

Fvck!

This was definitely fiftyshades of nightmare!
