High school/Soul mate AU

Keith's P.O.V.

Let me get one thing straight. Soul mates do not exist. Everyone says they do, they say you can write to each other by writing on your arm in pen, and all this other stuff. People have tried to show me that they exist but I know they're just joking. Lance showed me his arm after writing 'hey' on his arm and we sat there for an hour wait for him/her to respond. And did they? No! The next day he sent me a picture of his arm and in a different color ink it said 'sorry was at school and had a lot of hw I can talk now tho'. He could've wrote that himself! I'll admit a small, little, tiny part of me wishes it was true. That's why every year on my birthday I write down a 'hello' on my arm, but my supposed 'soul mate' never answers. That's why I've stopped. It's been 5 years since I stopped. Now back to the present.

"C'mon Keith, just try again they'll answer! I know so!" Lance tried to convince me. He does this every year, is he ever gonna stop? I thought to myself.

"I already told you Lance, I'm not going to write to my 'soul mate'" I said annoyed as we walked into class. I saw Shiro, Matt, Hunk, and Pidge. (In this one shot Shiro is as old as Keith and Lance)

"Any luck?" Shiro asked Lance. I rolled my eyes.

"No he won't crack," Lance said and fell dramatically into his seat.

"Lance stop being dramatic," I said annoyed. Then the art teacher walked in and class started.

"Alright class today we will be drawing our soul mate, if you know what they look like than draw them, if you don't ask them what they look like, that's all have fun," the teacher said.

"See, now go on and ask them what they look like, Keith," Matt encouraged. I slammed my hands on the table and stood up.

"No! Soul mates aren't real and no one will convince me other wise so stop trying!" I yelled.

"Keith Kogane, principals office. Now!" Mr. Coran exclaimed. I walked out and made my way to Miss. Allura's office, mumbling to myself angrily.

"Keith, again? This is the third time this week," Miss. Allura said.

"I'm sorry, can I leave," I asked. I just want to escape! I thought.

"K-Keith just go home and come back tomorrow okay?"

"O-okay"

"Also Keith, happy birthday,"

"Thanks," I smiled, that's the first happy birthday I got all day. I got home and layed down. I fell asleep and when I woke up it was dark and you could see the stars. The one thing I loved about the night. Then a shooting star passed by. As stupid as it is, I'm going to make a wish, I wish that soul mate's were real and that mine would respond to me, I wished. With that I went inside and found a pin. Oh God, I feel so stupid, I wrote a 'hello' on my arm, waited a minute, nothing. Sigh, I knew it. Then I felt something. It felt like I was being tickled. I looked at my arm and saw a 'Hey! I'm so sorry I never responded before when you said hi all those years ago, I was scared, and than you stopped so I didn't try because everyone thought you had....never mind! I went off on a tangent haha, anyway I'm (y/n)'. I-is this real? I responded with, 'Its okay an  I'm Keith' Than the conversation went on and on. I learned a lot about her and she learned a lot about me. That thing were people say you instantly click, well it's true, true for me. She's amazing.

"Keith! I'm home!" Shiro yelled. He's my brother if you didn't know.

"Shiro! Shiro! Guess what!!!" I yelled running to him.

"What?!? Is everything okay?!?!" He asked getting freaked out.

"No! No! Everything's fine it's just...."

"It's just what?"

"Soul mates. They do exist." I said and he smiled.

"I told you! Now what they're name?"

"It's a her and her name is (y/n)," I said smiling so big.

"Does she live near us?" Oh yeah I forgot to say she lives near me and were meeting up tomorrow.

"Yeah we're meeting up tomorrow!" I was so excited. This has truly been the best birthday ever.
