~Fictitious Reality 2~ a DDLC fanfic

Part 9: Regrets.

It was a rather slow, yet bland day. Nothing special let alone notable happened at your ray of school. However, there was an aura of sadness casted over you. For some strange reason, you knew something was going to be saddening. After school, Monika arrives at your house, knocking the door.

You open the door.

"Hey honey!" She greets, hugging you.

"Hello my love", you reply, embracing her.

You two walk inside, as you talk about each other's days. It was a rather normal, but cute time for you two. You enjoyed her company and wholesome behavior, and she enjoyed your humor and loyalty. After working on some homework and studies, you decide to show her something special.

You give her a rather decently sized box. She opens it, and notices two framed pictures: one being of you two, while the other are the Dokis holding a sign saying "We love you, Monika!"

Monika, overwhelmed by the love you and the others, begins to cry. She knew how hard you (and possibly John) had to work just so they could talk to her.

"Is everything okay, Monika?" You ask.

"Y-Yes, Y/N..." She manages. "Just a bit sad, that's all.."

"I'll always be here for you, Monika." You reply, hugging her.

"I regret the things I've said and done, they deserved better. And seeing the hatred people have for me, and the things they want to be done... I just want the girls to be happy, and not be harmed."

This shocked you. Of course hundreds of people dislike her, you've seen some of the things people have said. You knew that the hate was inevitable, given how everyone will have different tastes. But seeing Monika so scared, sad, and regretful was startling. You never did the things she did, so you didn't know how how exactly help her.

"Monika." You say. She looks up at you, with tears in her eyes.

"I know that the things you did weren't exactly the best." Her eyes begin to tear up even more.

"But, look at what came from a result, people love you! Not everyone, but many. Did you know that there was a popular mod where people could spend time with you?"

Monika is surprised, and remembers the mod.

"The hundreds, if not thousands of people who publicly stated their outrage that their favorite Doki was non-existent in the new update? Most of all, Monika. You changed my life."

Monika cries at that last statement, knowing your deep love for her.

"I would do anything to keep you with me, Monika." You say, placing a kiss on her cheek.

She hugs back, and begins to kiss back. You were taken by surprised, as she begins to tightly hold you in the embrace.

"I love you, Y/N.." she says, smiling.

"I love you too, Monika", you reply.

The rest of the night was peaceful, she returned to her home as you two called each other right after she returned. The fictitious reality you had once merely dreamed of became a reality of genuine love.
