~Five Years Later~
It's been five years since the Battle of Chicago. Three since I've last seen my mate. I know he's alive, just not where.

"(Y/n)! Come help me with the dog!" Cade yelled towards the loft of the barn

"(Y/n)! Come help me with the dog!" Cade yelled towards the loft of the barn. I groaned and poked my head over the edge of the loft. I glared at him and he rose an eyebrow. I sighed and jumped off of the loft and landed on the ground silently. Cade stared at me the whole time with something between awe and confusion in his eyes.

"I still don't understand how you do that." He mumbled.

"I told you, I'm magic." I signed with a smug smirk. He rolled his eyes playfully and I sat down across from him. "What broke now?"

"Voice recognition." He sighed and I hummed. I popped off the body cover and went over the connections under it. Everything was perfect and pristine except for one wire that had snapped. It's connection to the circuit board had snapped, meaning it needed to be longer. I stood up and grabbed a new wire off of the table behind me before grabbing a pair of wire cutters and the solderer. I snipped the wire an inch longer than the other one and stripped it before replacing the old one. I soldered it back together and blew the chemical smoke away from Cade so he wouldn't inhale it.

"There, should be fixed." I signed and he looked it over.

"You're awesome at this. I don't think I ever asked you why." Cade said with a questioning glance.

"My Dad." I signed. "He was a technician and specialist. Taught me since I was little."

"That's cool." He said and gave me a small smile. I smiled back and walked around the barn.

"When are you going to the theatre?" I signed.

"In about fifteen minutes, you wanna come with?" He asked and I thought it over. It has been a while since I've been out of the barn.

"Sure." I signed and shrugged.

"Can you make sure the back of the truck doesn't have anything besides the tools in it?" He asked and I nodded, walking outside to the battered blue Chevy. I stood on the tailgate and looked over the bed. There were a couple of little pieces of metal and a few computer parts so I grabbed them. Walking back to the barn I saw Tessa come out of the house with a tray in her hands. I sent her a small smile and walked beside her. She seemed confused but smiled back.

"Been a while since you've been out, what's going on?" She asked and I shrugged.

"Just helping out a little." I signed with a small smirk.

"Thank you, I just wish he would make more money than he spends. If I'm being truthful with you, I haven't gotten accepted into anything yet. Everyone denies because I classify as having no financial aid." Tessa grumbled. I set a hand on her shoulder and stopped her.

"Don't stress out about it Tess, believe me. Go for the bigger universities, the more money they have, the more aid you get from them. Even so, your Dad cares so much for you and he's trying his hardest I swear. Just don't give up, ok?" I signed and she smiled.
