--POV = Patton---

I munched on my tart, licking the sticky jam off my lips.

"I ran for days," Logan was telling us a story about his life on the streets, "But the wolves wouldn't give up. My energy wasted, I couldn't summon a weapon. I would have been poofed, or worse, shattered that day if that human hadn't come to my rescue."

My eyes widened. Logan always told the best stories.

Roman scoffed, placing his tart down on the table, "I would have easily escaped them. Three corrupted Peridots? Pfft. Easy!"

Logan glared at him.

"Ahh... I have something for everybody!" I squealed, trying to avoid another confrontation.

Virgil glanced at me, "Really?"

I nodded, putting my tart down and rushing to my room. I grabbed my small iphone and a rucksack. I'll need it for the big plan. I scooped Remy up from where he lay on the bed. The black pomeranian snorted in protest before rolling in my arms and snuggling into me. I fell back onto the sofa and stared scrolling through my itunes app.

"I used this special app to make a soundtrack, and wrote a song for us!" I said distractedly as I searched for the right tune.

"Like a theme tune?" Roman asked excitedly.

"Exactly!" I said. I spotted the button and pressed it.

A song started playing. I sang along to it.

"We, are the Crystal Sides!" I sang, swaying my head and kicking my legs to the beat. "We'll always save the day! And if you think we can't we'll always find a way! that's why the people of this world, believe in: Patton, Logan, Verge. And Roman, and Remy!"I lifted Remy up into the air on the last word. He yawned and fidgeted in my grasp. I placed him back on my lap and glanced up at the others, eager for a reaction.

Vigil wore a blank expression, his eyebrows raised slightly. Roman's eyes gleamed with pride and he looked pleased. Logan had a soft smile, seeming to like the song.

"That's great, Patton!" Roman picked up his tart again.

Logan nodded and made a sound of agreement.

Vigil didn't seem convinced, "Why does it say 'the people of this world' believe in us?" he argued, "Everybody knows that humans hate Gems. Just ask Logan!"

"Well..." I snatched the rucksack up from the floor, "We're going to go on a field trip!"

"What?!" Roman leaped up out of his seat.

"What do you mean, Patton?" Logan stood up, too.

"I mean," I shoved Remy to the side and stood up, "We're going to go to a human place! They call it a school. Just for a day."

Virgil slouched to his feet, "Are you mad?! They'll kick us out for sure! We're Gems! Human hate Gems!"

"He had a point, Patton." Logan said worriedly, "the humans will just chase us away as soon as they see us."

"Not if they think we're humans!" I shoved my hand into the rucksack and pulled out a golden scarf, "I made them myself! This is for you..." I slung the scarf around Roman's neck, completely concealing his gem, "This is for you..." I pulled out a pair of black gloved and handed them to Virgil. He looked at me doubtfully but slid them on anyway. They fitted and left no sign of the gem underneath. "And this is for you!" I flung a long-sleeved coat at Logan, one that hide his shoulders and covered his dark navy gem. Finally, I tugged loose the light grey cardigan that was tied around my shoulders and pulled it over me. It's long sleeves concealed my gem. I looked proudly around us. We each looked as if we were just ordinary humans.

"I mean, I suppose it could work..." Virgil grumbled.

"Yes!" Roman nodded, admiring his scarf.

"Well, I guess we could go. Just to see what it's like, obviously." Logan put in.

I grinned. Finally, something to anticipate!
