Charles immediately swam under the water and grabbed Kurt, holding onto him even as Kurt wrestled against him. He tried to put Kurt back on the boat.
"Let me die, damn you!", Kurt yelled, aimlessly swinging to hit Charles. The mermaid clutched his friend tighter.
Cindy began to run with all her might towards the sea where her friend was, her mind racing with silent prayers that God would spare him from himself.
Charles tried to push the boat over, grunting as he struggled with keeping the raging human afloat, "I can't let you!"
"Why?! You aren't even real! Why do you care about me?!"
Charles finally flipped over the boat, barely able to catch his breath. "Because.. because...", he was too afraid to say it. What if Kurt would hate him? He couldn't afford to lose his him.
"Because you were my first friend. You showed me the world, Kurt. I hate seeing you like this. I want to make you happy."
Kurt stopped struggling, slowly relaxing. He looked into Charles' pain clouded eyes, and hugged him, "I.. I just want a home."
Charles hugged him back. "I'll find some place for you. I promise."
(Lmbo this sucked.)
