Charles and Leo didn't speak much as they went to the open ocean, got into their groups, and went back to work. Zoey tried to stay cheerful, but almost everyone could tell that something was fishy. (The author slapped her knee.)
"What's wrong, Zoey?", Charles asked.
"Nothing. It's just, a lot's been on my mind after Frank left.", she replied.
"You two always did always seem close."
Zoey gave a soft chuckle, "Yeah. What's funny is that I-"
"ALL GROUPS TO THE SURFACE"
Zoey sighed, "I'll tell you later."

Charles grappled his hook to the ship's side right next to Zoey, "Continue."
Zoey seemed nervous, giving a hint of a smile. She sighed, "It's not fair.. I miss him. He should be here next to me, not you."
Charles looked down, "Do you want me to give you more space?"
"No, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to- gosh.."
"I get it. I know what it's like to just lose someone out of the blue..."
"He just left me, us, everyone!", Zoey sniffed quietly. Charles didn't know what to say.
"I wish he didn't leave for a stranger, someone we don't even know!"
"I'm sure he had his reasons-"
"Yeah, he had to be a fucking fa-", Zoey cut herself off, taking a deep breath. She caught a disapproving glance from one of the sirens, "I'm sorry.. it just doesn't make sense."
Charles was in disbelief, "You know, Zoey-"
He was cut off by arrows whizzing through the air, piercing through the force field. The head of the arrow stuck through the force field.
Charles stared at it in disbelief, "Has that ever happened before?"
Zoey gulped, "N-no-"
"Once.", a rugged leader from another team said, "It could only mean one thing..."
"We're under attack."
