Without Frank, Charles couldn't sneak into Angelmento. He needed someone else to let him in. He had asked Xander if he'd let him in, but Xander informed him that the police had been closing down similar places like his, so he denied.

Charles laid in his hammock, thinking about how to get in.

"What's up?", Leo asked.

"Nothing.", Charles replied.

"Something's on your mind.", he pressed.

Charles didn't answer.

"If you're thinking about getting into trouble, just know that it won't work out well."

"I need to ask Xander something."

"Something Mom can't answer?"

"Why are you so defensive all the time?"

"I just don't want you sneaking around, keeping secrets, ending up like-", Leo cut himself off.

"Like who?", Charles asked.

"Mom would kill me if I told you.", he replied.

"I'll tell you what I was gonna tell Xander if you tell me."

Leo sighed, "Like your mother."

Charles' heart dropped, "O-our mom, you mean?"

Leo shook his head, "Your birth mother. Mom and I learned about what happened to her before we adopted you..."

"Could you tell me about her? Please?"

"I-I don't know if I should be the one telling you."

Charles raced out of his hammock and went in the living room, where his mom was happily sewing a shirt.

"Mom! Can you tell me about-"

"Is this for another late project?", she asked.

"No, I just wanted to ask you about my mom."

Charles' mother froze, "Why are you so curious all of a sudden?"

"Leo said he didn't want me ending up like her."

"LEONARD SLATON!"

Leo rushed in, giving a nervous glance to Charles.

"Charles, go to your room while I talk to your brother."

"But-"

"No 'but's!"

Charles went back into his room, closing the door behind him. Who was his mom, and what had happened to her?
