Elven-Wolves

chapter 7

 Obviously, the lady in front us does not trust people or at the very least elves very much I thought as she said those words to us.

The man next to us was trying to explain what had happened but it ended with her lecturing him about how he was too trusting of strangers. I just zoned out there and, finally, after about 20 minutes or so of her lecturing him, she turned her attention to us.

"So you two saved my daughter and healed my husband" She paused for a moment and sighed before she continued, "My husband tells me that he has hired you to be our bodyguards till we reach the capital city"

"Yes, Miss.Wolfshire that is what we said we would do" My sister says calmly so as to not set off the lady anymore.

"Then allow me to ask you some questions, oh and by the way, my name is Rena, "She says as she takes out a ball like object.

"We would be glad to," my sister says.

"Then take this orb, it will tell me if you are lying or not" Miss. Wolfshire says as she passes the orb to me. "We Will start with you young man since you have been so quiet this whole time."

"Ok, sure," I say as she slowly infuses the orb with manna.

"I will now ask you a series of questions, the orb will glow green of you are telling the truth if you lie the orb will glow red".

"Okay," I say

" Have you ever killed a human in your life that was not trying to kill or harm you."

"No" the orb glowed green.

"What is your full given name."

"Haro Wolfdragel" the orb glowed green.

"Why are you going to the capital"

"To go to school there" The orb glowed green. This continued like this for about another hour or so she asked me many questions on every little thing. Then she asked the exact same question to my sister.

"Are we done now?" I said annoyed

" Yes now we need to negotiate a fee and a contract" Miss Wolfshire said

My sister immediately spoke up and said "Base fee is 8 silver coins plus 10 bronze for every problem encountered plus free meals every morning and night" she says looking at me expectantly. She really just said that didn't she. She always loves my cooking and she probably knows that we would be traveling on dried food if she didn't do this.

"Deal," the lady said immediately was it really that good of a deal I wonder.

I look up at the sky and determined it was too late for humans to travel so I decided to say something " Hey, it's getting late we should probably set up camp, for now, I will go start hunting for dinner and you guys can get the tents and stuff set up. I say as I stock off into the woods.

"Finally alone," I say as I get a good ways away from the camp. "You doing ok Len"

"Yeah," He says with a yawn "Sorry, I just fell asleep during that conversation, did you guys make a deal and what not"

" Yes we did but now I am stuck making the meals till we reach the capital"

Len just laughs.

"It's your fault you ever let her try your cooking in the village cooking contest"

"Well if I had known that she was going to be a judge that year I wouldn't have participated and that is beside the point that we need to start hunting," I said angrily

"Fine fine," he says with a smirk on his face. He changes to his Raven form and I get my bow out of my storage inventory. I sat there waiting for a bit for him to send me a message through telepathy saying he has found something after about 5 minutes or so a message comes thru.

"Haro I found a giant wild boar do you want me to keep track of it till you get here"

"Yes I will be over there in a minute"

I run over to where I sense Len is there stands probably the largest boar I had ever seen in my life. The tusks were about the same size as me and were about ten times wider than me. I was excited this was the first time I had faced anything this big, Len was excited as well he was flying over to me as quickly as he could and transformed it a sword as soon as he reached me.

I drew Len and readied into a battle stance. The boar had not yet noticed me but as I approached he turned around and deflected Len with one of his tusks. I jump back and prepared for another attack on the boar but the boar raced towards me at a very fast pace. I wondered how an animal so big could move so fast but I dropped the idea and quickly dodged the boar before it could stab me threw with its huge tusks. In mid-air, I transformed into my dragon demi-human form with wings, a tail and two horns protruding from the top of my head. I flew up above the boar and dropped Len real quick but I knew he would just hover there until I would grab him again and reached back grabbed my bow and notched my arrow. Fired the arrow at the boar's eye after I imbued it with some Ice that would explode on impact. The arrow hit it's marked and exploded. I immediately grabbed Len again to come in for another strike but the boar blocked it again with its tusks. Then I flew back and even quicker than I did before I imbued Len with some of my dark magic and cut the large boar in almost in half leaving the bottom intact so that I could drag it.

"Finally done I say panting a bit that was one of the hardest fights we have had in a long while," I said as I fly back down to the ground. I quickly transform back to being an elf and put Len away who had gone to sleep after all the energy he used in the fight. I picked up the boar and slowly dragged it back to camp.

As I got back to camp I saw that the tents had already been pitched and a fire lit.

"Where have you been Haro" Miss. Wolfshire said angrily as she stormed over to me.

"I have been hunting for dinner like I said I was"

"But you were gone for almost an hour what type of game were you hunting to take that long" My sister chimed in.

"I was hunting wild boar"

Miss. Wolfshire finally made it over to me and her face went pale "Haro that boar you are dragging you killed that" she looked like she was about to faint

"Yeah what of it," I say back

"Tha That is an S class beast a boar of the night even most S class adventures would not fight one alone"

I think back to the scale for adventures and beast it goes something like this,I, H, G, F, E, D, C, B, A, AA, AAA, S, and then titles that most people don't have like Hero, Sage and what not.

"Oh well, I don't really care this is dinner so I am going to cook it," I say annoyed. The father and daughter look like they are drooling just thinking about it. I finish dragging the boar out of the woods and call over to Halo " Halo can you help me with skinning it and cutting it apart."

"Sure," she says as she pulls out her favorite knife.

We finished in about an hour and I started cooking while Halo stored the rest in her storage.

I finished cooking the boar stew and called over "Dinner is ready everyone" and as if they had been waiting for it they ran over with their bowls and spoons in hand. As we ate we decided to choose the watch order I, of course, I got the last watch so that I could make breakfast

We finished eating quickly and went to sleep.
