Nothing has happened all night and during my watch, so I started to make breakfast from the boar I got yesterday. I thought about what I wanted to make and decided on making some eggs and boar so I asked Len to quickly find me some eggs as I started to prepare the boar. Len quickly transformed into his raven form and grabbed the basket I had prepared for him to carry the eggs in after about ten minutes of waiting he came back and quickly transformed back into a sword. I caught the basket of eggs and quickly cooked them along with the boar.
“Everyone time for breakfast” I yelled threw out our camp while banging some pans together my sister was the first to get up and then the rest of them got up.
“Good morning everyone,” I say as I pass out the bowls I made with magic I had already removed a portion for Rin and Len.
“Hey, Halo let me see your sword I am going to make some repairs on it,” I say quickly as if guessing the reason why I wanted to see Rin she quickly gave her to me. I went into my and my sister's tent and put up a barrier around it so that the human family can not go through and see Rin and Len eating breakfast in their human form. They quickly ate and I came out after deteriorating their plate. I picked Len after they had transformed back into swords and reattached him to my waist and brought Rin out.
As I was walking out of the tent I noticed that they were talking about travel plans so I just got my plate and put food on it and listened.
“So what you are saying is if we took the route around the mountains it would approximately take 2 days and would be safer then if we took the mountain passes which would take us half a day but it would be more dangerous Halo says to confirm what she had just heard from Miss. Wolfshire. “Then I think that we should take the mountain pass even though it is more dangerous it will take less time and don’t worry about the danger I and Haro will protect you,” she said with confidence.
“That's fine” Miss. Wolfshire said
We quickly clean up the camp and began moving forward towards the mountain pass. The carriage was to small to fit all of us in it so one of us had to walk, We decided to take turns between me and Halo. Halo was the one who started since I was the last one on watch last night. I went to sleep in the carriage.
“Haro, hey Haro wake up you lazy brother of mine” I awaken to hear Halo’s voice trying to get me awake. I guessed that it was time to change over shifts of walking.
“I am awake what is it Halo”
“Finally you are awake it is time to change you have been asleep for about 3 hours and we are about halfway there,” She says with a sigh
“ Okay then” I get up and pick up Len
“ Wow, you really can sleep Haro” I turn around and see Samuel smiling at me.
“Well, I had a long day yesterday sir,” I say as I jump down from the moving carriage. Samuel goes to the front of the carriage where his wife was driving the carriage.
“So you guys are going to school in the Capital that is a pretty big deal not many elves or even demi-humans for that matter go to school their due to the large population of nobles that go to school there because of its reputation,” Samuel says trying to start a conversation with me and my sister.
“Yeah, we are, our parents kind of sprung it on us last minute during our coming of age journey,” I say. We are lucky that Elves have a similar tradition to us of coming of age journeys.
“So you guys are not prepared at all for the entrance exams that are going to be needed for the schools ranking,” Ms. Wolfshire says
“Wait there is an entrance exam, Mom and Dad never said anything about that” Halo almost yells.
“Oh yes there is one for language, math, science, magic, and combat, Would you like an overview of each” Samuel says grinning even more at our distressed looks on our faces, he looked like he was about to laugh.
“Yes please,” me and Halo say at the same time.
“Okay then the first one is the basic knowledge tests of the language test which is composed of grammar and spelling both common language and other countries languages , the math test which is pretty self explanatory, and the science test that has everything from Alchemy to normal natural science on it , after that the second one is the magic test that measures what affinities you have and your mana capacity, next for the last test is the combat test which is basically a strength test and a skill test where you will face a teacher in combat” After Samuels long explanation me and my sister were starting to sweat because we had no clue what an average elves mana capacity or even combat strength. Samuel and Rena were somewhat laughed at us and said
“Don’t worry I am pretty certain with your capabilities you will be able to pass the tests” Rena. After she said that I heard something moving on the top of the mountains around us and drew my sword.
“Stop the carriage and get inside you two, Halo get out here I know you heard the same thing I heard,” I say quietly. Ms. Wolfshire stopped the carriage quickly and got inside.
“I am out Haro what's the plan”
“I’ll take offensive you take defensive,” I say quietly.
“Plan,” she says as she casts a defensive spell over the carriage and draws Rin,
“ Come out you bandits !” I yell at the top of the mountains around us.
“You have good ears kid I’ll give you that but you only have two options one leave your valuables here or the two you can leave them here with your life,” a large brute of a man says in an arrogant tone. The other ten bandits come out of their hiding place and start laughing with their bows drawn and ready.
“Like I will do that” I am pissed of these bandits were looking down on me and my sister.
“Then Die,” the brute said. A rain of arrows started coming towards us as I set off a fire spell that burnt all the arrows to ash. As soon as the arrows were ash I jumped up to where the brute was and cast a binding spell on every one of the other bandits and laughed.
“So Mr.bandit what are you going to do now that all of your cronies are captured,” I say with a large predatory smile on my face.
“ I surrender,” he says as he falls to the ground with a defeated look on his face.
