It's not a lie nor a secret that Lucifer is, more often than not, all about mocking Dan rather than supporting him. But in the end, there is a friendship there, and that is why an unexpected side of Lucifer comes out when Daniel mentions a date with someone — you, to be specific. Lucifer being Lucifer, he becomes quite invested in the potential relationship and makes it his mission to coach Dan through it all, how to land a second date and perhaps even get some action by the end of the night.
Truth be told, most of it goes unheard by Dan, because he knows that what might work for Lucifer, won't work for him, and certainly not with you. He appreciates the effort, however, and therefore keeps the Devil updated — he does manage to ask you out again, and when some time passes, you actually end up dating. Surprisingly, Lucifer is the first one to hear the big news.
