Kai used to have psyqualia as a kid. Age regression shenanigans ensue and the gang are suddenly made aware of the fact.

Also, did you know Kai played with Royal Paladin units long before he even heard of the Narukami or Kagero clan? Because most of them sure didn't.

Alternatively:

"Yo, Taishi."

His best friend sends him a wide grin and Miwa nearly faints at the sight.

-In another world, Kai Toshiki would've been the perfect heir for the Royal Paladin clan, and Tatsunagi wants some entertainment.

(cue interdimensional shenanigans wah wah wahhh)

-AU! Kai uses Royal Paladin clan and retains the personality he used to have as a child. Has psyqualia?

TW: eating problems

- sins clogging his throat and asphyxiates

He stops eating.

Or can't eat, rather. The guilt weighing heavily in his chest that he can't bear to swallow any sustenance down his throat. More often than not, the food rises back up and he ends cleaning his floor for who knows many times now.

So he doesn't bother. Eating, that is. Too much of a waste (hah, like him-) and Kai didn't like being wasteful (what irony).

(Someone was bound to notice it soon, but he couldn't help but hope that, maybe, he'd be able to hide this forever.)

- wherein Kai's guilt makes him unable to take care of himself
-(whether it's the guilt itself making him not eat or the underlying urge to punish himself for what he did is uncertain, but whichever it was, he was still slowly killing himself and that was a big no-no in Their books)

Criminal! Kai AU...(for the lack of a better title)

A Kai whose parents didn't abandon him is far more dangerous than anybody would've expected. He had a brighter personality, sure, and he was definitely way more fun and active with their friend group. But there was a darkness lurking beneath those bright jade eyes, and to be honest Aichi didn't want himself and the others to feel the full brunt of that.

He just hoped they'll get this...other Kai-kun to where he belonged and get Their Kai-kun back.

- im a huge sucker for AU bodyswaps and damnit this sounds hilarious
- his parents have fucking criminal tendencies and if you think for a second that im not gonna use that to my advantage then you are Dead Wrong
- plus, Kai with kleptomania? That's the good kush my dude
- i can imagine this starting bc of a stupid hypnosis "spell" by like, idk, Morikawa or something bdhjdj
- like, yeah, nothing really hypnotized Kai but the body swap just coincidentally matched the timing and honestly that whole idea is just so, so funny for me
- at first it seems like nothing happened but then the next day, "Kai" is all smiles and grins and holymotherofshitKaiissmiling-
- he keeps impulsively swiping their decks without them noticing fucking hell Dude Stop That
- I'll refer to AU Kai as Toshiki instead, god this is confusing

"So, anyone wanna cardfight?" Toshiki grins and skips -he skips- to a random fighting table.

"Oh, and I think I'll be borrowing Cathaired boy's deck, thank you very much." He pulls out a deck and starts flipping through it.

Morikawa's deck holster feels lighter all of a sudden.

"Hey, that's my-!"

"Eurgh," Toshiki held the deck away from him, nose scrunching. "Gross, this deck is weak. Nevermind, Sendou-chan mind if I borrow yours instead? Thanks." Ignoring Morikawa's shout of indignation, another deck appears in his hand. This time, they were Bermuda Triangle units.

But Emi was still holding-

A-ah.

Emi took a quick look at her hand and realized that, no, her deck wasn't on her person anymore.

Toshiki remained innocently looking through the deck he- um, borrowed. Humming while he read each card's ability and skill.

Nearly everyone's head turned to Morikawa.

"Morikawa get him back to normal this instant." Misaki crossed her arms, eyes narrow.

"What?" He exclaims, sweating madly at the stare. "Why me?!"

"Well, you were the one who hypnotized him-?" Aichi scratched his cheek, eyes flicking back to the brunet periodically.
