He feels a weight suddenly appear on his shoulder and turns to see Kai's calm, sleeping face. His mouth slightly opened like an 'O' as his chest continuously rose and went back down again in a soft and soothing rhythm. Lloyd feels his face heat up at the realization of how close they were. Try as he might to focus back on the movie, he keeps finding himself staring at the brunet's peaceful face. His sudden hypersensitivity doesn't really help at all in the slightest. The sounds of blasters rifles and clashes of plasma swords are drowned by the repetitive beating of Kai's heart so close to his arm and the quiet snores that leave a tingle up his spine-

With the Master of Fire at close proximity, Lloyd begins to see a myriad of things he's never bothered to notice before. The faint freckles on his cheeks and arms, the scent of his hair that smelled like a combination of ash and a floral fragrance he can't place that somehow smelled so alluring, how the TV light made him seem so small and fragile and just so vulnerable-

He takes a moment to process that: the thought of Kai as vulnerable, the thought of him as weak.

(A red blur flies past his vision as he grit his teeth, pushing an enemy to a metaphorical corner and knocking them unconscious afterwards. His older body was something he was just starting to get used to but he knew he could manage. Hopefully.

Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Cole get hit the same way Kai had been hit. 'Huh, that's weird,' he thinks, going after another snake. 'He didn't get thrown as far and as hard like Kai did...'

"Watch out!" Lloyd jumps out of his trance and barely dodges the fangs of the Fangpyre lunging at him. As he spun out of the way, he took the chance and hit the red snake as hard as he could to render it unconscious.

The green ninja wipes the sweat on his forehead. "Thanks, Kai!" He gives the red ninja a thankful grin, earning a warm smile in return.

Their focus was back on the battlefield and Lloyd forgets about that little tidbit of information, drunk on the fun of fighting.)

The green-clad male shakes his head and carefully adjusts the sleeping brunet to avoid disrupting him from his slumber. He bites his lip when Kai stirs for a bit, then breathes out a relieved sigh when he goes back to sleeping.

He could easily carry the hothead on his back-

But that could mean waking him up, with how he was sleeping right now. So Lloyd decides to carry him in his arms, instead. 'Bridal-style' if you would.

He frowns as he starts his trek to his bed, the ease of carrying the brunet bothering him. 'He's so light...' he observes, 'I never noticed how thin he was until now...Should I be concerned? Is this just me being really strong, or is Kai really underweight?'

[Honestly? It's a wonder he's come this far, still alive and standing.]

Once he reaches his destination, Lloyd gently places Kai on the bed and runs his hands through slightly spiked brown locks. He turns to the door, fully intent on leaving the room, yet something stops him.

"Hey, Kai?"

No response, he guesses it's worth a shot. He won't be awake to hear him anyway.

"I just, it's cause," he pauses, unsure where he wanted this to go. "I want to tell you something."

There's a drowsy hum from underneath the blankets.

He's gripping the door frame tightly now, he doesn't know why though...

"I'll try...I promise," his voice lowers to a whisper. "I won't let you get hurt anymore. I swear on my life." Lloyd then leaves the bedroom for real, though there was a nagging at the back of his mind that he just can't place...

He swears he saw Kai smile in his sleep, but he ignores that in place of the raging blush that he's desperately trying to will away.

(Later in the morning he realizes that he never did turn the television off...their electricity bill might be more expensive now because of that.

Oops?)
