Chapter 3

*Rion pov*

I feel panic rise in my chest. This is Matthew, Matthew Espinosa. He is the reason I left my old life behind and here he is. Randomly appearing into my life again.

"Uhm, I'm Rion, and I really, really have to go," I say nervously backing away from him. Meghan walks up grabbing my arm and pulling me slightly away. She gives me a certain look.

"Okay, you and I both know you have no plans. You should totally talk to him," she whispers. She doesn't know, how could she know.I shake my head fast and pull my arm out of her grasp.

"No Meghan, I'm just going to go home, I'll text you later," I said and turned away from her. I walked past Matthew and he reached out for my arm to get my attention.

I cringe away from him, not wanting him to touch me. "You should hang out with us. The guys and me yah know? I'm sure they would love to meet you," He says with a small smile on his face.

"No thanks, I really have to go, bye now Matthew," I say and rush away before he can speak anymore.

My mind is so clouded in thoughts that when I get home I just flop down on my bed. I can't believe after all I did to get away from him, he just pops back up in my life. Unbelievable.

All the rude things he's ever done to me swirled in my mind and almost drove me crazy.

I really need to clear my mind so I change into a swimsuit and I begin the walk to the beach.

I walk into the shallow part of the water and sit down. I let the water wash over my body and I pretend it's washing all my stress out to sea with the tide.

I guess one good thing is that Matthew didn't recognize me. If he did he may have went back into jerk mode or something.

I wonder if he's different, I wonder if he's changed. He looked like a nice person but then again, I've seen the real Matthew and I don't really want to risk it.

I'll probably never see him again so I don't know why I'm even bothering myself with this. As time passes, the tides change. My mood wasn't really better but it was lightened.

I know, icecream. Icecream always makes me happy. I walk out of the water and to my bag. I dry myself off and wrap the towel around my waist.

I begin to walk down the shoreline to the opposite end of the beach where the icecream place is. I zone out on the patterns of the waves and the people out on the ocean riding their boards.

I look ahead of me to where the volleyball court is in the near distance and see many people engaged in a friendly game.

As I walk closer I see there is a bunch of guys and they're all shouting and messing with each other.

One of the guys turns and looks at me. My heart almost skips a beat when he approaches me with a grin on his face.

"So do you wanna meet the guys now Rion?" Matthew asks me.
