There was something watching him.
He could feel it bore into the back of his skull.
His room was dark. Only the glow of the laptop lit his face.
He kept his eyes focused on his laptop.
He was writing a code. It was important that he finish.
But the malicious presence behind distracted him. It made his flesh rise in goosebumps even as he continued to type.
He wanted to turn around, yet was terrified to.
He tried to concentrate on the code. He had to finish it. It was critical that he finish it.
He hesitated.
Why was it so important?
What was he really doing?
The ominous presence made him feel sick. It was giving him a headache. His skin felt hot. It was like he had a...
The jarring ringtone snapped him out of this increasingly realistic nightmare.
He had uncomfortably fallen asleep on his chair. His apartment was dark now. Lit only by the incoming call on his laptop.
It was so uncannily like his dream that for a moment he turned around in panic, expecting some kind of monstrosity breathing down his neck.
The persistent ring brought him back to reality.
It was Crystal.
A new anxiety wrapped itself around him.
He answered.
The frantic look in her eyes didn't help him feel better.
"Sean, you have to go right now and find this guy, Sam."
He frowned in confusion. "Sam? Who?"
"Wendy's boyfriend." She said, impatiently.
"Why him?" He asked, perplexed. "What about Wendy?"
"Amy assured her all was good, she stopped her from killing herself."
He shook his head. "You are speaking in riddles. I don't get what's the problem then."
"She told her she was going to delete the message she had sent Sam. Accusing him of cheating on her."
"Okay... and..."
"She never did. She urged her to sleep. And then she turned her phone off." Crystal looked desperate.
Sean tried to clear his head. Trying to understand what this implied.
"So Sam would wake up, read this message, try to call her but her phone would be switched off." He shrugged. "She would eventually wake up though. And call him. I don't see the crisis."
Crystal shook her head.
"I located Sam. He tried calling Wendy this morning. Several times. Then Amy got activated."
Sean rubbed his temples. His head was still aching.
"I don't know what she told him. It's going to take me time to hack into that conversation. But ever since then his phone is switched off. And basis his location history, he hasn't moved out of his house all day. Something is wrong. I know it."
Sean sighed. Fixing Amy so easily was too good to be true. "What do you want me to do?"
"He stays half an hour away from you. You have to go check on him."
