FINDING CHANCE

Chapter 10

"Mom....you still remember Chance right?"

"Yes of course.  He's the closest friend you had, aside from Lucila now."

"Nagkita ulet kame.  Barkada niya pala si Gero."

"Who's Gero, baby?"

"Ay!!! I haven't told you about Gero pala...nothing Mom, forget I ever mentioned him."

"Rafaela!!"

"Chillax Mom I'm kidding. Hahahaha."

We're having dinner at a restaurant.  The usual Sunday dinner that we'll always have.  It's for the three of us to catch up with one another. 

"Yeah baby, tell us about Gero." - sabi ni Daddy.

And so I did.  Kinwento ko sakanila how I met Gero and his group, how he saved me, how we hang out once in a while, his background etc....etc....etc....

Of course, I left the part na in exchange of saving me eh kailangan kong magpanggap na girlfriend niya when he needs me.  Baka ma-shock si Mommy. I also left the part na kung hindi dumating sila Gero eh baka naipusta na ako nila panget sa drag racing nila, baka tuluyan na kasi ako bigyan ng bodyguard ni Daddy.

Ayoko ng may bodyguard, nakakasakal.  Ayoko rin nga na naghihintay si Manong sa Miriam eh.  Magpapasundo lang ako sakanya sa kung nasaan man ako.  Pero hindi niya ako kailangan samahan. Act low profile para hindi masyadong mabigyan ng attention,the more kasi na well-protected ka eh the more na people will think na mayaman ka, the more chances of winning, este more chances na ma-kidnap.

"Hhhmmmm...well he seems like a good kid.  Are we going to meet him?" - excited si Mommy kapag may knkwento akong bagong nilalang na nakakasama ko.  Sabi niya kasi, wala daw akong social life.  Hindi niya alam kung kanino ko daw minana yung pagiging alien ko.  Sila kasi ni Daddy, when they were on their teens, madami silang friends, may social life sila, kung saan-saan sila nakakapunta.  In fact, they met thru a friend of a friend of a friend.

"Soon Mom. Sige I'll tell him. Abalang tao kasi si Gero eh."  abala sa mga chikas niya.

"Well I don't think so, if he gets to spend time with you, then I think you're special to him." Ttssss si Daddy naman masyadong assuming.  Palibhasa dahil alien nga ako sa paningin nila ni Mommy, feeling niya kapag may napalapit saken eh special agad ako sa taong yun.

"So what happened to Chance?  Did you guys had a time to talk? Ang tagal niyo ng hindi nagkikita ah." - Daddy

"No Dad. May race kasi siya that time eh."

"What race?" - usisa ni Mommy

So after Gero, si Chance naman ang topic namen, kung pano ulet kame nagkita.  This time, lahat sinabi ko kila Mommy, even ung pagtitig saken nga nung mga babae dahil sa naka-uniform ako.  Even yung cold treatment ni Chance saken sinabi ko na rin.

"Aaawww baby, you know, it's been a long time na kasi.  Maybe you and Chance are on the adjustment period again like before.  Diba when you started off, hindi naman agad-agad friends kayo? Remember that? It took a while before both of you opened up to each other." sabi ni Mommy.

"Yes Raffy, maybe nahihiya din si Chance.  Besides, he left without saying goodbye before right? Maybe all along he's sorry for what he did.  Mga bata pa kasi kayo noon.  I know Chance and his family.  He's a good kid. Don't take it against him, okay?" - sang-ayon naman ni Daddy.

Seriously, lahat ng taong nakapaligid saken ganyan ang sinasabi....siguro nga ako na ang may problema at hindi naman talaga si Chance.  Baka nga naman ang OA ko na talaga, yung wagas na ako kung maka-assume at makapag-demand.
