I woke up in the bed next to Legacy. my phone was going off for the 7 th time.
"Hello" I answered not looking at the caller ID
"Good morning Ms. Carter. I'm outside. Pack some bags" The familiar voice on the other side of the phone answered back. I recognized the voice to belong to Mr. Gains. he was my lawyer helping me get emancipated. Judging by the tone of his voice, I figured he was here to tell me the request was denied
I quickly got dressed stuffed a few bags and headed out the door.
" Get in we gotta go" he said
"where" I said not really feeling like it but having to.
" back to Chicago" He said
"What you mean back in Chicago Man nah" I said
"Just listen." Mr. Gains said
As we pulled up to the airport
"We've got someone to travel with you, your clothes are here just be good I'll be there in 2 days to check in with you and see if you have any questions or concerns" He said as we got out
"Why wait here's my concern right now I ain't feeling it" I said
"Lil ole Seven is that you" I turned around to see my Moms' best friend He moved to Atlanta when I was 13 he used to take us out for ice cream when ever one of us would get an A on our test.
"Uncle Leo, what are you doing here" I asked more excited than Before his name was Leonidas, but Everyone calls him Leonidas
" Seven um before we get home I have to tell you something" he said making the atmosphere in the room change. it was as if they had this inside joke that i was oblivious to. I waited patiently for him to continue
"its your family" Leo said
"What about em?" I asked not really interested
"They were Victims of a drive by... your Grandmother might not make it" he said
"What?" I said gathering my thoughts " What's going to happen to the twins?"
"well were going to pick Kanni up right now" Leo Said
" and King" I asked

He sighed deeply
"King was in the car with them when it happen" he said slower
My heart dropped 15 feet
"...He's in a coma" he said
"No no no no no no... h-he can't be " I nearlly choked on the words

"Do you want to visit them?" The officer asked

"Follow me."
2 1/2 hours later
We finally made it to the Hospital in Chicago where they were holding the bodies.
"Hey How may I help you" the reception at the front desk asked
"Hello we're here to see Miranda Michelle--"Mr. Gains started
"No we're not we are here for King Carter"
"Which one is it" the receptionist asked irritated
"King Carter" he said "Miranda Michelle" I said
"Ok so one at a time who are y'all here to see" She said get a little frustrated
"I apologies for the inconveniences Ma'am were here to see them both"
"ok what you two relationship with the patient or patients"
"This is King Sister and Ms. Michelle grand-daughter" Mr. Gains said
At this point I was over the pettiness and ready to go see my baby brother
"Well King Carter is in room 294 and Mrs. Michelle was taken out 2 minutes ago "I swear my heart dropped when she said that. I couldn't get the words out of my mouth.
"I'm very sorry for your lost, but you can visit your brother though." She said
I just shook my nodded
"Well follow me" she said grabbing her clipboard
