❝belonging❞

"Do you want to try?" Jeongguk asks, gesturing toward the helms. The bored siren was sitting on top of a barrel, swinging his legs out of boredom until he realizes the navigator is addressing him. He looks up, pointing at himself and the boy nods.

"What if I crash it?" Jimin asks, hopping down onto the wooden quarterdeck and walking towards the helms.

"We're in the middle of the ocean, there's nothing to crash into."

"Aye," jimin says, feeling idiotic for thinking that as he steps up to the helm, the navigator guiding his hands to the right positions, Jimin can't help but grin as he holds onto the ship wheel, giggling happily.

"You know, I never thought that you and Captain would become... like that. You're certainly not one of the wenches at the haven, they take a special liking to our Captain," Jeongguk says, leaning against a barrel beside the helms and jimin turns to look at him, a confused look on his face.

"Pardon?" Jimin asks.

"Captain is a real dog sometimes if you know what I mean," Jeongguk teases and Jimin feels a pain in his chest, he was the jealous type without even knowing. What is he doing? He has no experience with love.

"Ah," Jimin bites his lip, eyes lowering at the thought. What else could he expect from a pirate? He gestures for the navigator to take back control of the wheel, walking back down to the main deck without another thought. He walks all the way to the bowsprit, dodging busy pirates, singing chantey and humming as they work along and jimin suddenly feels like he doesn't belong. Perchance it's because he doesn't... of course he doesn't.

He's not one of them, could never be one of them. With just one glance you could easily tell, his pink hair and the little patches of scales still evident on his body, his face was soft and smooth while most of the pirates were scruffy and unkempt. He wraps his arms around himself as he sits at the beginning of the bowsprit, running his hands along the smooth wood, admiring the pretty mermaid head figure.

What was he thinking? He lets his eyes fall shut, breathing in the fresh air and he can almost taste the salty water they're in. He misses home. He misses Taehyung and Seokjin. He's only here because of yoongi, had he taken the captain's advice and fled, he'd be home. He was too far away, he knew it. Why would he stay here, perhaps the feeling Yoongi has is one of lust and want but not one of love or adoration. Pirates go to the haven, they usually fulfill all their desires and needs, get supplies and a safe place for all, food and resources, drinks and wenches to suffice until next time.

Could it be yoongi's wants blurring the lines between what he thinks he feels and what he does, lust instead of love? His mind is racing for answers that he's not getting, he doesn't want the terrible thoughts to invade and infect them, feeding into the toxic thoughts that always somehow pool inside and numb his logical way of thinking.

Was he even thinking logically in the first place. He's lost, that's one thing he knows for sure. He feels lost in this world. He's never been like his pack, like the other sirens and he'll never be like a pirate. It's like he's in the middle where no one wants, the last pick, the runt of the litter.

His horrible thoughts plague his mind, starting to doubt everything. He doesn't like being alone, though he's on a ship with dozens upon dozens of pirates he's alone, much like how he's always been alone in his pack. Is there really no place for him in this world?

"My prince of the sea," he hears someone hum out and Jimin turns his head enough to see the captain, hands stuffed into his coat pockets, head tilted and a smirk on his lips. "You're all alone, wherefore?" Yoongi asks, leaning against the railing of the ship, looking out at the sea.
