Pearl : White Diamond's

five.

The war raged on for years. White appeared to be enjoying herself the entire time. Maybe it was all a ploy for her? Pink becoming so enthused with Earth to the point of no longer wanting to colonize others? Her leaving Home World as Rose Quartz and continuing her life elsewhere? Is that what White Diamond wanted? Pink Diamond out of the picture because they could no longer see eye to eye?

None of the other gems know that Rose Quartz is Pink Diamond. Neither do the other Diamonds. White Diamond wanted to keep it a secret from them. Maybe part of her ploy? Could it all be her plot or are things panning out in a way she didn't expect and just decided to go along?

I can't say because I only know what Pearl tells me. I never bothered to search any farther than what White ordered me to. I was never interested in this charade. I wanted a simpler way of living. One that Pearl would describe but I thought at the time I could never have the one in her dreams. 

I couldn't have the life from my dreams.

I was a Pearl destined to attend only to whatever White Diamond demanded. I had no say in the matter. But, ever since I met that other Pearl - one who isn't like me, nor Pink's, or Blue's or Yellow's, things have been shifting. He's different. He continued to race through my mind.

After the war ended, Pink's Pearl still hadn't return back to Home World. Whoever survived the war did. When everyone came home, that was when they explained what they saw; Rose Quartz shattered Pink Diamond. I couldn't believe it. Mainly because I know Pink carries both identities so how was she able to succeed such lie?

Where is she now because I do not believe she is shattered somewhere. I believe she is hiding. Maybe with Pearl? Maybe, if I venture out on a search for Pink Diamond, I may find Pearl and maybe convince her to come back home?

Or maybe...if I find Pink Diamond, I'll be congratulated and able to leave the life I have with White Diamond. Maybe?

At this point, what do I really have to lose? If I escape White's domain, she can't afford to chase me nor will she think to. She'll probably decide that I was a defective Pearl and replace me. She never cared about me. She never could bring herself to. So, that's why I decided to leave Home World, travel to Earth and find Pearl.

Days have passed and the day finally arrived for me to escape with the other Pearl I met weeks ago. I had made sure to prepare the ship days ahead to avoid White Diamond becoming suspicious about my plan to leave her. When she retired to her room, I hurried over to the ship room as quietly as I could. I entered the room and took one of the ships that White didn't care for. I pressed the button to compress it and made my leave in my bubble. When I was out of her quarters, I traveled the rest on the way on foot. 

Before rushing through town, I shape-shifted into another hue and gave myself a completely different appearance that included a new set of eyes. This isn't something I normally do but I'd practice with Pearl. I previously didn't know I had such powers. White would always tell me I was weak and had nothing because I am nothing; nothing to her. Pearl would always tell me the opposite. She would tell me that I am something, I'm strong and I'm plenty powerful.

It took me such a long time to believe her. I partially still don't but maybe I want to be?

I rushed through town to get to the other side of HomeWorld on time. The last thing I wanted was to be was late for my escape. When I arrived, I saw him waiting for me. When he heard my steps, he turned around, ready to greet me but instead showed a look of surprise.

"Oh my! Pearl! You look wonderful!"

"Thank you. I didn't want to get noticed so I changed my appearance."

"Wow! Can I do the same thing?"

"You should be able to. Give it a try."

He took a few moments to focus on what he wanted to look like and it ended up not working out. I giggled a little.

"It's quite alright. It takes time. I wasn't good at first either. Ready to go?"

"Ready when you are."

"Okay."

I took out the ship and pressed the button to decompress it. 

"You sure there is enough room for both of us?"

"There is. But, the main plan is to go unnoticed for as long as possible. I would hate for us to travel far and get captured."

I opened the ship doors and quickly entered. Pearl followed. I sat at the captain's chair and made sure everything was closed and secure. The ship had only two seats and a handful of buttons for steering.

"I'm going to take off now. Hold on."

I pushed a few more buttons to make sure the ship was okay and in moments, the ship took off. The ship was able to pass through HomeWorld's orbit easily and in no time, we were traveling through space. I pulled up a map and set the best course for Earth.

"You seem to know what you're doing."

"I'm doing what I've seen other's captains do when flying around with the Diamonds. They don't usually steer but they do know how to fly ships too."

I paused.

"What do you plan to do when you get to Earth?" I asked.

"Not exactly sure. Thanks to you, I'm finally free. I can do whatever I want now. And so are you, Pearl...you can do whatever you want now..."

As I heard to what his words, my eyes only got lost in the stars.
