Pearl : White Diamond's

seven.

Pearl took me by the hand and we entered her bedroom. It was very spacious and well lite. We walked over to a seating area and she offered me to take a seat. She then asked if I wanted some tea or anything to eat. I pointed out that we didn't need to eat or drink so I was fairly confused.

"Pearl...you know we don't have to drink or eat." She covered her lips slightly with her hand.

"Oh! Excuse me, Pearl. It's Earth mannerisms. People here offer food and a beverage when guests are over. Plus, Amythest loves eating food even though she knows she doesn't need it."

You smiled hearing her explanation. It's a silly thing for gems to eat or drink. But just the thought that they are able to may feel very liberating to many.

"In that case, I'll have a beverage of your choice then."

"Splendid! Would you like to try some tea then?"

"Of course. What would you recommend to eat with the tea you're going to prepare?"

"Steven gave me these wonderful cookies! I didn't think I'd like them but they turned out to be great. Willing to try?"

"I would."

Pearl started preparing everything and I felt so happy at that moment. I couldn't stop smiling while watching her steep the tea and bring out the cookies. I didn't even care if I ended up not liking anything, I was just happy she offered them to me; she wanted me to try new things that she had already tried and think are good - that she thinks I may like.

When she finished everything, a table appeared and she gently placed the teapot accompanied with teacups on the table and presented the cookies on a small plate to take from. I thought everything looked so cute while Pearl looked so poised as always.

"Please! Enjoy the tea and cookies."

"I will." I picked up a cookie while Pearl poured the tea and placed the teacup with its plate in front of me. I took a bite of the cookie and it tasted wonderful. It has a bit of a rosy taste to it. I took a sip of the tea and it was very floral as well but refreshing.

"This is all so wonderful Pearl," I said to her still with the same big smile on my face.

"I'm glad you think so!" Pearl replied with a cheerful voice. We both smiled as we had tea and cookies together. We've never been able to have such a moment together because of how strict our lives were. The fact Pearl is able to be free and do whatever she pleases showed me that everything she did, in the end, was worth it. This was when we started speaking about everything. I started.

"Pearl, this is all wonderful. I understand more now why you wanted to come to Earth so badly with Pink Diamond."

"I'm glad you're able to understand better."

"I wish I had the same courage as you to come with you - to be by your side the way you were with Pink Diamond. Speaking of Pink Diamond...where has she gone?"

She quickly covered her mouth.

"Pearl?..." She stumbled over her words.

"I..I can't tell you what happened to Pink Diamond...but...I can show you..."

A screen appeared. She projected her memories. She showed me the whole thing while covering her mouth. I was shocked to see what appeared in front of me that I dropped a cookie I was in mid-bite with. That was the day I learned about Pink Diamond being Rose Quartz. I couldn't believe that a Diamond would take such risks and to later on born a hybrid child.

A child anyone in HomeWorld would deem an abomination. 

"Pearl...you kept all of this to yourself...and for so long... Alone..." I looked at her and tears started to stream down her face slowly. I quickly got up to sit next to her and held her.

"Pearl...I wish I was with you the whole time. If only I were with you the whole time. Maybe...having a friend close by could have helped...maybe..."

"I was so in love with her, Pearl?..."

"What?..." I was surprised by her words.

"I was in love with Pink Diamond. All the things she said to me, that we were going to do together and we did. Then, these people came into our lives, some being Garnet and Amythest but others who were simply passing by our lives...I thought I would have been the one to be the one to her...but I wasn't in the end."

She paused for a little bit but I didn't say anything, I simply listened.

"She chose him!" She shouted with clenched fists.

"She chose Greg to be her one and I got stuck with taking care of their son and she gave up her form. There was nothing I could have done about it. It was her choice. All I could do was support her. She had given everyone so much including her status and luxurious lifestyle. Despite how unhappy she was with how the situation is at HomeWorld, she still made plenty of sacrifices. There were even so many things that I don't know about her, so many things she never told me and I felt foolish to think that I knew everything about her...no one knows everything about someone.."

I wasn't sure what to say at the moment. I only hugged her and didn't let go as she continued to cry on my shoulder. I had no idea of what had unraveled between her and the other gems, including Pink Diamond, but Pearl was left scarred from it all. I was genuinely angry but there was only so much I could do nor say at the moment - the past is in the past and will forever remain there.

"I know we don't know everything about each other but what I do know is that we were always supportive of each other's dreams...remember?..."

Another pause.

"Of course..." She responded while beginning to wipe away her tears. I wiped away the rest while looking into her eyes and smiling at her.

"I remember all of our talks of you wanting something different for yourself and here you are! You made it happen. You're incredible for that. I know you didn't get to have what you truly wanted at one point. I can imagine how miserable one would feel. But, don't let it blind you from all the wonderful things you currently have because you have so many."

She sat up on her own again, finished wiping her tears and started pondering for a bit.

"What made you come to Earth?"

"You...I wanted to be with you, Pearl. I missed you so much. I missed us. I was hoping that we could rekindle our friendship."

"But you decided to come now. What made you?..."

I thought for a little bit.

"I think a lot of it had to do with the other Pearl that I met. He had similar dreams as you - wanting to come to Earth and start anew. I didn't have such dreams but...he said I couldn't be with White Diamond anymore. He said I had to leave her if she was going to continue to abuse me and that I didn't deserve to have that kind of life. He said words with such weight without even knowing who I was...I think he reminded me of you. It was such a big risk but I did it and here I am now! Here! With you." 

I said to her as I held onto her hands and smiled again. 

"I see. She was still abusing you the way you told me back when."

She held onto my hands a little tighter. I remembered telling her about White sometimes but I know I didn't tell her everything.

It was difficult to talk about those times - even with Pearl.
