It took about a week to finally see Earth.
"Is that Earth!?" Pearl asked.
"It appears to be." You responded in a monotoned voice.
"It there any way for us to go faster?!"
"Without disrupting the ship's engines? I think not."
He frowned as he slumped into his seat. I cared less. I only had one objective when landing on Earth and that was to find Pink's Pearl - my Pearl. I can only hope she is still alive and well.
It took a few more days before we were able to reach Earth's orbit. This trip was longer than anticipated but we were finally almost there.
"I can't believe how close we are. Earth looks...beautiful."
I agreed with him but I didn't say so out loud. I eagerly wanted to get there without blowing out the engines. Good thing I also packed enough fuel. In case of any worst-case scenarios.
It was bumpy at first when getting into Earth's orbit. It's always difficult to get into the orbit of any planet but once we got through, it was smooth sailing. We were able to find a place to land that wasn't populated with many humans. Which was fortunate because the last thing I wanted was to gain the attention of too many humans. At the moment, it seemed to be early morning. You guessed based on the lack of activity. You were able to compress the ship and placed it in one of your pockets.
"Oh my! We're here! I can't believe we made it!" He was gleaming.
I felt indifferent about the journey. I only let out of a sigh.
"Pearl...I thought you'd be happier."
"I knew I wouldn't be."
"Why? We're free from the diamonds. You're free from white. You can be anyone you want to be now."
"I just want to find Pearl."
"Another Pearl? Like us?"
"Similar to us."
"Maybe I can help you?"
"If you desire. But, I am not sure where she could be."
"Well...right now we're at a place called Beach City. Maybe we could shift forms and ask around."
"That sounds like a good idea." I agreed with him and we shifted to look more human. We walked around until more time passed and we started to notice more people. We walked up to as many as we could. We appeared to be in a small community. We asked about any weird activity and most townspeople that we spoke to spoke about weird things happening from time to time. Most couldn't explain exactly but knew it was because of some gem people.
When I heard the word gems, my entire body shivered. I asked if there were anywhere I could find them and most wasn't sure at first until we met with a postal carrier that was currently working.
"Excuse me mail person. Do you by any chance know how I can find these gem people the townspeople speak of? I'm looking for someone dear to me."
"Of course! If you walked towards the beach and keep left, you'll see the home of the crystal gems."
"The crystal gems? You know them?"
"Yes! I know Steven and his friends the crystal gems. He's with them almost all the time."
"The crystal gems. By any chance, is there a gem who is thin, tall, gem on her forehead and skin that appears porcelain?"
"Oh! You mean Pearl?"
"Yes!"
"Yeah! She's with Steven often too."
"Thank you so much." I didn't want to waste any more time and quickly began running in the direction I was instructed. I ran as quick as I could hoping to finally see Pearl. It's been so long. Just the thought of finally seeing her brought tears to my eyes. I did not bother to check if Pearl was behind me because I only had one thing in mind now.
I even started to think about this Steven person that kept being brought up in conversation. I have no idea who he is and clearly, I am to meet with him but I wanted to hurry - to hurry back to her side.
Finally.
I made a hard left, changed to my original form and continued running at full speed despite all the sand surrounding me. I kept crying as I huffed for air.
"Pearl," I whispered to myself. It didn't take long until a shelter was in view and it was in the shape of a goddess? No. But, the figure reminded me so much of a goddess. Then, I noticed the smaller home attached to it. When I finally got to the front door, I held onto the railing trying to catch my breath before walking up the stairs. I looked up towards the door and my heart continued to race.
"Pearl! You ran so fast I could barely catch up. Is this the place?"
"It has to be."
He paused.
"Do you need me to go with you?..."
"No...I think I can handle this on my own...I have to handle this on my own."
When I finally caught my breath, I held my head up high and started walking up the stairs while holding onto the railing. When I got to the main door, I knocked gently but hard enough to be heard. I heard a voice and started to feel a little anxious. It wasn't Pearl's voice. The door opened.
"Hello! May I help you- Another Pearl?!" The boy. Could this be the Steven the postal carrier spoke of?
"I'm sorry to intrude but are you Steven by any chance?"
"Steven! What's wrong?! We heard you shouting!" Her voice.
My head shot up a little and my hands came together. I immediately fell shy when I heard her voice. My eyes were seeing her now with her spear. She appeared gorgeous in her fighting stance. She looked so different but yet still the same Pearl; powerful, bold yet still so caring and loving.
"Pearl...it's me...Pearl.."
"Whose's that?" Amythest asked in her usual tone.
"She's White's pearl," Garnet answered calmly.
"What!? How do you know!?"
"Pearl told me." You heard the fusion's response and felt a little seldom.
"Oh...you spoke about me..."
"Not in a bad way I promise." Pearl quickly put her spear away and quickly came to hug me. I hugged her so tight. It has been so long since I've last seen her. I didn't want to let go. I missed her so much. So much has happened. I needed this moment to last forever but I knew it wouldn't. I just held onto her as long as she would let me.
"What are you doing here? How did you find me?"
"I followed my heart. Pearl...I've missed you so much."
"I've missed you too. Please, come in."
"Ah wait," I said as I signaled for Pearl to come up now.
"I did not come alone," I said to everyone in the home as I introduced the Pearl that accompanied me.
"There are so many Pearls!" Amethyst shouted. I giggled.
"I know but trust me, we are rare. I promise." I held my hands over my heart as I looked at Pink's Pearl. I was so happy to be in the same place as her again.
"Pearl, would you mind if we have a moment to catch up outside?"
"Oh, we could actually go to my room. Would everyone excuse us." She took my hand and lead me towards the platform by the door. The same door took a different form.
"Your room?" I asked as she led me through the door.
"Yes. We'll have plenty of privacy there."
