Peter continued to play with Wade every day at school. They began to grow closer and closer, causing Tony and Steve to become anxious. "Can Wade come over to play today?" Peter asked, tugging on Tony's pant leg. "I'll talk to Pops." Tony wanted his son to be happy more than anything, but he knew it was a dangerous world out there.

"Steve, Peter wants to bring his friend Wade over. What do you think?"

"I don't see why not? And maybe we can talk to Peter about it after."

"Okay, I guess you're right." Tony walked down to Peter's room. "Wade can come over after school tomorrow. Have him walk home with you and Pops." Peter ran up to Tony giving him a big hug. "Thanks, Dad. You're the best."

"Oh, and Peter don't forget he can't know you have two dads. We'll just pretend I'm Pops friend, okay?" Peter solemnly shook his head.

That night Tony and Steve watched the news in horror as more and more people had been arrested for homosexuality. It seemed to be getting worse and worse. Suddenly, Tony heard light sobbing coming from Steve. "H-how can they do that? W-what's so w-wrong about love?"

Tony leaned over and kissed him on the head. "Aw, baby don't cry. It's an awful world we live in. But at least we have each other." Steve continued to cry, staining Tony's shirt with his tears. He didn't want to hide who he was anymore. And he sure didn't want the same for his son.

...

"Wade, this is my Pops." Steve bent down to shake the fifth grader's hand. "Nice to meet you." The three of them didn't say a word on the walk home. Steve could tell Peter was anxious.

Tony was sitting at the kitchen counter when they walked in the door. "Hi, Wade. I'm a friend of Peter's dad. It's nice to meet you." Wade shyly looked down at his shoes. "It's nice to meet you, too." And soon enough, Peter grabbed Wade's hand and pulled him upstairs to Peter's room.

"So what do you think?" Tony asked. "Do you think he likes him?"

"It was too hard to tell. They were completely silent on the way home.Tony, maybe were just being paranoid. I mean he's only ten! What if he doesn't have feelings like that yet?"

"Maybe you're right. I'm just gonna go check on them, just to be sure." Tony knew he was being overprotective, but he loved Peter so much, and couldn't care to see him get hurt. He quietly walked down the hallway and peaked his head into Peter's room.

There he saw Peter giving Wade a kiss on the cheek.
