Movieverse
Miss Peregrine made her way through the garden and down to the small pond. She stood on the wooden platform then took a seat, crossing her legs beneath her.
A few birds flew by and she smiled lightly, watching them enjoy their freedom.
Not long after she'd arrived at the pond, Miss Peregrine heard footsteps drawing closer, but she didn't turn around to see who it was. She could already tell it was Fiona by her light yet determined footfall.
When Fiona reached Miss Peregrine, she immediately sat down next to her headmistress, but didn't say anything.
"Goodmorning, Fiona," Miss Peregrine said quietly.
"Morning, Miss P," Fiona replied.
They both sat in comfortable silence for a while, admiring the peacefulness and listening to the distant noises coming from the house, until Fiona turned to a patch of grass next to her.
She took out a seed from her pocket and placed it on the grass. Seconds later, the seed broke open to reveal a stem, which then grew into a beautiful flower- an orchid.
Fiona plucked the single orchid from the ground and turned to Miss Peregrine who was watching her. She held out the orchid to her headmistress.
"For you," she said with a smile. Miss Peregrine returned the smile and took the orchid gratefully.
"Thank you, dear," she said and lifted the flower to her nose to smell it.
"Are you coming in to eat?" Fiona asked. "Emma and Jake made pancakes. They taste great."
"I'm not hungry," Miss Peregrine replied and lowered the flower. Fiona frowned and turned away.
"Okay," she said.
Miss Peregrine had been in low moods ever since Blackpool and barely ate or slept anymore. Sometimes the children could hear her walking around at night. She would cook supper for them, but the older children usually made breakfast these days.
"At least come sit with us? You hardly ever spend time with us anymore. Since Blackpool, that is," Fiona then said.
Miss Peregrine looked like she wanted to say something, but ultimately she decided against it. Instead, she nodded and stood up, holding her hand out for Fiona. The latter took it and stood up, too.
"Come on," Miss Peregrine said and started walking in the direction of the house, holding Fiona's hand and the orchid she had grown for her.
