We didn't need to speak, to know what our plan would be. There were more of them than us, so we had to use our strength, our powers, and our brains. What we learned about the demons while in Hell, was that they were truly horrifying and extremely strong, but they weren't so smart. They relied on their strength and our fear a bit too much, and that was something we had to take advantage of.
Since my friend was the one who actually killed the Devil, or better to say trapped, she was their focus. The demon flying duo and the demon who reminded me of a werewolf seemed to focus on my friend, and the other two had their eyes set on me.
Without them knowing, we had created a defensive wall around both of us, not strong enough to protect us, we weren't strong enough for that, yet, but sufficiently strong to test them. We wanted to know what we were dealing with before we went into the fight, the luxury I didn't have while I was in Hell.
We weren't some warriors or anything, but we thought that using some strategic moves would come in handy when dealing with an enemy that was much stronger than us.
As soon as the demons got their bearings, they started attacking us. The flying demons were using fire to attack; luckily the shield was able to protect us. It also gave us very useful info. We knew they were fire-based demons and that would make it easier for my friend to defeat them. After all, we were on a beach.
The werewolf like-demon started running towards us with bared teeth, obviously going for the classical animal kill, as we expected. It bounced off the invisible wall and stared at us confused.
The rat-like demon actually surprised us, because it sent some kind of earth-shaking attack that we had no idea how it produced or how to stop it.
"Great just my luck, the one we don't know how to stop will focus on me." I thought bitterly.
The snake-like demon spewed some kind of green liquid that hissed and burned the sand, but our defense held. We assumed it was some kind of poison.
Of course, unlike in the movies, all these attacks happened simultaneously, and we barely managed to keep the wall up using both of our powers.
We could barely hold the wall, but we did manage to do it for their first attack. Then they started attacking again, and we had to use other means to defend ourselves.
My friend used her power to bring the water from the sea as a shield against the fire the flying demons sent her way, and that seemed to be effective against them. The problem was that she was at the same time physically attacked by the werewolf-like demon.
Using only our power or only our strength and agility was easy but using both of those was quite a challenge. She started sweating profusely as she tried to focus her mind on the water to protect herself from the flying demons and her body in fighting with the other demon. It was tearing her apart, and she had to find a way to focus on only one thing, power or strength. The situation was very tricky, and she had to think fast.
As for me, I had my hands full as well. The rat-like demon was trying to hit me with its earth-shaking attack, but I kept using my agility to move away from its path or jump above it as the situation required.
In the meantime, the snake-like demon was trying to grab me and was spewing its venom in my general direction. Basically, I did a lot of jumping and twirling to avoid all that, but I couldn't do it forever. I had to think of a counterattack.
Honestly, I couldn't think of anything useful. Sometimes I used my power to divert the attack such as push the poison to the side using kind of telekinetic power when I couldn't avoid it in any other way.
One time, as I reflexively diverted the poison, it fell on the other demon by accident. It burned its skin and the demon started screaming, but soon enough it recovered since only a small amount of poison reached its skin. That was when I finally got an idea of how to defeat them.
As I said, they weren't too smart, and they weren't working as a team. Often times they got in each other's way. What I didn't realize until that moment, was that one demon's poison could actually hurt the other demon.
I was careful to avoid the rat-like demon by jumping in front of the snake-like demon. Then I levitate above it in the exact moment a splash of poison came from its mouth where I was only seconds before, but at that moment the rat-like demon was there. It was a direct hit and it started screaming in agony as its face melted away and its eyeballs fell out of its head hanging in the air.
Then the rest of the body melted away and the only thing that was left was one badly damaged eyeball. It was such a strange thing to see. The beach glistening in the moonlight with the gentle waves murmuring in the distance, and one eyeball rolling around the soft sand, badly burned. I felt sick to my stomach, but I had to focus because there was still one demon trying to kill me. So I dragged my eyes away from the dreadful sight and focused on the other demon.
As for my friend, she managed to create a kind of tornado that was made entirely of water. That prevented the fire from reaching her, and the mere force of it kept the werewolf-like demon at bay. Since it was pointless to just keep it up like that, she decided to go on the offensive.
She spun the water funnel as fast as she could. Then she released it towards one of the flying demons which blew him a few feet away. That seemed to make the other flying demon a bit weaker, so she had at least eased some pressure.
As the werewolf-like demon attacked, she managed to fight it off using her combat skills, but not before he managed to bite off a chunk of her hand and her little finger. She screamed in agony, but the pain and the spurting blood seemed to actually help her. It made her furious and that seemed to increase her power.
Suddenly, the attacking beast was flung into the flying demon, and there was a loud crash as their bodies collided. Unfortunately, she didn't have any time to rest or to take care of her wounds because the first demon recovered. It was flying towards her, its sharp wings extended.
Although they weren't very smart, the demons never attacked in the same way twice. They realized that fire wasn't her weakness and seeing how the brute force had worked on her they tried that approach again.
As the demon's sharp wing was heading her way my friend was able to dodge it and jump on the back of the beast. She wrapped her arms around its neck and started squeezing, but soon she realized that she didn't have enough physical strength since she was bleeding and in pain.
Instead, she tapped into her power and created a noose made of light around the monster's neck that started cutting into its skin more and more until finally, it took off its head. The head rolled off into the ocean spoiling the purity of the magnificent ocean and leaving the headless body leaking strange dark-blue blood that no one had the time or interest to investigate since the other flying beast and the werewolf-like demon were getting back in the fight.
The snake-like demon was starting to wrap around me and I couldn't stop it. Nothing seemed to work as it started squeezing its slimy body around me. My friend was bleeding surrounded by the two demons, and I was slowly being suffocated.
