Did we win?

My friend's hand wasn't working properly because of her injury. She couldn't channel her power through it. That meant that she wasn't able to summon and control water to fight the fire produced by the flying demon. She was an easier target for the other demon, as well.

As for me, it was getting harder to breathe and I had to fight to stay conscious. Even though I could feel the darkness approaching me, I kept on trying to free myself. The dark embrace of death was closing in on me. That was when I heard my friend's voice in my head.

"Let's work together," she said "Or we are both in trouble. What makes us different and better than them is that we can work together. We are connected by an unbreakable friendship. So let's show them how we fight together."

I was eager to listen to her plan, although I did wish for her to hurry up since I was running out of air. As she quickly explained her plan in my head, I thought it was a brilliant plan. Even bleeding as she was, she thought of a plan that would save both of us. I was thoroughly impressed.

As the demons started approaching her, she evaded them jumping out of their way and standing in front of me and the snake-like demon. The demon was too busy squishing me to death to notice her, so it screamed in shock when it was scorched by the huge wave of fire that came its way. My friend used my earlier tactic. She made the flying demon hit the snake one by moving away from the blaze of fire in the last second.

Only the flames didn't actually kill the snake-like demon, they just hurt it and made it angry enough to drop me from its grip and to turn on its fellow demon. It spurted its poison on the flying demon, and it melted away, leaving bare bones in its wake. Still, we were left with two angry demons that were very strong and mad at us for tricking them into killing each other.

"We are only left with a huge snake-like demon who could either crush us to death or dissolve us with its poison and the terrifying werewolf-like thing that is extremely vicious. Also, judging by what it did to my friend it is very hungry, a piece of cake." I thought sarcastically.

My friend felt uneasy fighting the fiend who devoured a part of her hand, so I switched us up. I started fighting against her demon while she took mine. The reason for this was the fact that in the past I had read about defeating wolves if you were ever attacked. I thought to myself that the werewolf-like demon might not be so different, only much more powerful of course.

So I tried to make myself look larger, more intimidating. Then I used the tactic I read about. I offered it my forearm and as it bit into it, a sharp pain went through me. It was extremely painful, but I embraced the pain. I knew it would bring me salvation.

After that, I used my other hand to secure the back of its head. Then I wrapped my legs around its huge torso and rolled it into its back. The demon tried to dislodge my forearm from its mouth and get back to its feet, but I held it in place.

I slowly shifted my bitten arm so that I pushed my hand into its throat and esophagus. In theory that should have restricted its respiration and caused it to die in seconds, but that didn't happen. It started sinking its teeth deeper in my forearm and that was when I realized my mistake. My hand should have gone much deeper down since the demon was immensely larger than an average wolf.

With all my strength and effort, I managed to put my whole hand up to my shoulder into the demon's mouth and I restricted its respiration. In a minute or two, it was dead but no one warned me about what happened after the animal or in this case the demon died.

My whole arm was stuck in the death grip of its huge mouth as it fell back dead, pulling me on top of it. I was frustrated because I was essentially trapped. My hand was badly damaged and still in the monster's mouth. So there was no way for me to help out my friend with the small snake problem she was dealing with.

Trapped as I was, I could only watch as my friend was trying to avoid getting dissolved and defeat the snake. She did notice my situation, but since I wasn't in a life-threatening danger she kept her focus on the demon. Trying to make it hit its head into the rocks or into the nearby trees she started realizing that it wouldn't be that easy.

Since I couldn't physically help her, I did my best to send her some of my power in hopes of stopping the demon. It did seem like I was helping.

Finally, I came up with an idea that was something I got from the movies. Since we didn't have any weapons and I had a lot of time to think while trapped and while my friend was fighting I actually remembered something useful. They said in one of the movies that anything could be a good projectile, similar to a bullet if it was fast enough.

There were a lot of small rocks on the beach and that gave me the idea that I immediately sent to my friend. She was happy with an idea that would get her out of the fight, so we focused on the same stone that was slightly bigger than an average bullet, and we accelerated it with our powers.

As we did so, we sent it towards the demon and it went straight through its head effectively creating a huge gaping hole that we could see through. Its blood was sizzling and burning the sand as it poured down and my friend had a great idea of using the dripping venom to free me.

I thought it was a risky move since she had to move the venom using telekinesis and if she missed by an inch I would be dead. Luckily, she hit only the demon, as it dissolved I was finally free.

We were both bleeding badly, but instead of going for help we just dropped down on the sand exhausted. Sadly for us, we knew it wasn't over, it seemed like it never would be over.

"Did we win?" I asked.

"For now." was my friend's breathless reply.
