Chapter 3

Wednesday, October 3rd

Harry’s POV

I followed Louis into the auditorium for auditions for Grease. I had auditioned for Guys and Dolls at Carter, and had gotten the lead. I have loved singing since I was little, and over the last few years I’ve started to actually become a decent singer. Cher and I like to sing together at karaoke night at our favorite bar.

Okay so I’m not exactly 18 yet, but Cher knows the owner and sneaks us in.

The owner kind of has a think for me, which is annoying.

Mostly because she’s twice my age.

And because she is not my type.

Because she has a vajayjay where I would prefer to see a cock.

Too much?

Well I’m sorry. Those things look like the Venus fly traps of death.

“So what are some pointers for a first timer?” Louis whispered to me once we sat down in our seats.

It took me a second to realize that his beautiful, melodic voice was directed at me.

“Uh, just don’t think about it too much. Have you ever seen Grease?” I asked, rubbing my clammy palms on my pants.

Dammit, why does he always make me feel so nervous?

“Really? That’s the musical we’re doing?” Louis asked excitedly. “It’s only my favorite movie!”

I laughed at his enthusiasm. “So you’ll want to be Danny Zuko, then?”

“I don’t know. I’ve never really sung before. Maybe I’ll just be one of his friends. I could pull of the whole bad boy greaser look, right?” Louis brushed he hair back and pretended to smoke a cigarette while kicking his feet up on the chair in front of him.

I laughed again. “Definitely.”

I was finding myself more and more attracted to Louis’ carefree and joking personality. He was everything I wanted to be.

Mixed with the badass, don’t give a fuck attitude of Cher.

Maybe my life would be a little easier if I could be more like them.

The director of the play walked out to the center of the stage and called everyone to attention.

“Welcome Willimpton’s finest! I hope you are all excited for this year’s fall musical, Grease!” His words were met with a round of enthusiastic applause. “So, the plan for today is everyone will read lines for Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsen and then tomorrow we will do the singing auditions, where you can sing anything you’d like, just please pick something that will show off your talents. I don’t want to hear any of this Little Wayne business.”

Louis chuckled next to me.

I gave him a confused look and he leaned in and whispered, “There was this transfer from the US last year that tried out and rapped a Lil Wayne song for his audition. The best part was he didn’t think to edit himself, so he got up there and was swearing like a sailor in front of Mr. Matthias, who has a strict no cursing policy. Needless to say, he did not get a part.”

“Oh.” I nodded and made a mental note to make sure I edit whatever song I pick to sing, not that it would necessarily be a problem.

“Okay, so let’s get started.” The director, who I assumed was the Mr. Matthias Louis mentioned, continued. “Let’s have Becky Anderson and Joey Bartels come up and do the first read through!”
