TWO DAYS EARLIER Monday, October 22nd

Cher’s POV

Eleanor came over to mine right after Louis dropped her off at home. She had tears in her eyes, but there was also relief.

“We’re…over.” Eleanor said the second I opened the door. “Louis and I aren’t together anymore.”

At first I didn’t know what to say. I couldn’t do the thing I immediately wanted to, that being jump up and down cheering.

I also didn’t know if she needed to be comforted, so I couldn’t go in for a soothing hug.

No, I just stood there like an idiot instead.

“Is this a…are you happy with this?” I asked.

“I think so. We were just heading down a path that we couldn’t come back from. I’m a different person than I thought I was—than I was when I fell in love with him. I’m not the Eleanor he wants anymore.” Eleanor said with a shrug.

“Okay.” I said with a nod. “So, what now?”

“Now?” Eleanor said with a coy smile. “Now, I say we figure out what we are to each other, and enjoy it.”

Eleanor stepped into my house and closed the door behind her.

I grinned at her as she took my hand in hers and looked into my eyes.

I pulled her up stairs to my room and we laid down on the bed.

Now before you go and think of all the things that usually happen in a bed, get your mind out of the gutter. Nothing like that happened. We just talked…for hours.

“So…do think it’s safe to call you my girlfriend?” I asked as I played with her fingers, still laced in mine.

“I think that’s a fair statement.” Eleanor said, smiling hugely.

“So, girlfriend, what do you want to do about coming out?” I asked, bracing myself for her answer.

Eleanor paused for a minute, dropping my gaze.

“I hadn’t really thought about it.” She admitted. “I’m not exactly sure what my sexuality is. I’m still attracted to boys, but I am definitely attracted to you, too. I also don’t want to hurt Louis by all of a sudden dating a girl right after him. I know this sounds silly, but I don’t want him to think I switched to dating girls because he sucks in bed or something. Which, by the way is so not true. He’s great in bed, not that I have anything to compare him to, but…”

“Slow down there slugger, you’re rambling.” I said, giving her hand a squeeze.

“Sorry.” Eleanor said smiling, embarrassed, as her cheeks turned pink.

“Don’t worry about it.” I said, tilting her chin up with my forefinger. “I think it’s cute.”

Eleanor’s cheeks went front pink to red.

“So, if you want, we can just keep this to ourselves, then. At least for awhile.” I said, although that was not what I wanted at all.

I hated hiding who I was, but I suppose I was still technically dating Harry…so there’s that obstacle to deal with, too.

“I think that’s probably a good idea.” Eleanor said, squeezing my hand. “I’m sorry. I know that you would rather us be all open about it, but I just can’t right now.”

“It’s okay, really. For you I’m willing to try it your way.” I said, smiling at her. “I feel like I have to ask you, though…Are you okay? I mean you just broke up with your boyfriend who you had a lot of firsts with; who you loved. That’s a huge part of your life that’s now over.”
