CHAPTER 35

After NK and Khushi went....Arnav was wondering about his own behaviour...he himself didn’t know what made him hold her waist like that..its like seeing all the curious and admiring glances of his staff on his wife he suddenly felt possessive abt her to tell them she was his...but he couldn’t voice out so he chose to show it in actions....wondering abt his own behaviour he went back to his work concentrating on the meeting.....
Here NK was driving the car where Khushi was lost in thoughts of Arnav...she didn’t know what made Arnav hold her like that its not that she felt it wrong..but till today they have not held or touched each other unless its absolutely necessary and in the beginning she thought that Arnav had held her hand by mistake in sleep..but now it seems like it has become his habit...She didn’t want any awkwardness between them by asking about it...so she chose to be silent on that...after all he is her husband ans he had rights on her as well..and he being the understanding one hasn’t forced for anything till now..may be physical aspect of their relationship or on her freedom to live her life..she very well knew that he was attracted by her...after all she is a girl she gets to know when he looks at her in the admiring way when she wears a saree or any other dress..he may not tell or express..but his eyes speaks about everything what he felt that moment..She also knew her husband was not like others... a business tycoon..and most handsome person she would have ever met...the intimate dance that they practise was also making her nervous because first of all he is her husband...second when he looks at her like that like he could see through her soul..and the slow steady breathing of theirs when they are close to each other affecting both...was sending shivers down to her spine...she also knew that she was slowly accepting him as a part of her life as her husband....
She came out of her thoughts when NK called her.........
NK:Khushi where are u lost??
Khushi:Nothing...I was thinking about something...
NK:Ok....By the way Sohan is only your cousin??
Khushi:No...I have many cousins...but I distanced myself from all..its not that they are bad or something...but at point of time I just wanted to be myself...but we still meet in all get together and functions....
NK:Oh...ok...come...we have reached...
Khushi:Ok...
With that they both enter the hall and got busy in wishing the couple and greeting all...Anjali and Shyam had not yet come...so they were just speaking with the people and also Khushi's parents and relatives who were present there.
8.00P.M
Suddenly Khushi gets a call when she was with NK ...it was from HP...she wondered why HP had called her!!
ON CALL
Khushi:Hello...
HP:Khushi beta...Nani ji...is unable to breathe...she is saying she is having a chest pain.....please come fast ...I called Arnav beta...but its not reachable...
Khushi:(shocked)What??
HP:Yes beta...please cm fast....
Khushi(tensed)Ok...
ENDS THE CALL
NK:What happened??
Khushi:Nani has got chest pain...we should leave now...
NK:(shocked)What??
Khushi:Yes....HP Ji..called now....
NK:Ok come will leave now.....
They both leave ...on the way NK calls for ambulance of Arnav’s family hospital...and also informs DR Bhatia Arnav’s family doctor about it to arrange a private ward for them...and Khushi calls HP telling that ambulance might reach there anytime..and tells him to take her to hospital and they will reach directly to hospital itself...as they didn’t want any delay ......
Soon they reached hospital before the ambulance...and within 5 mins HP along with Nani came in ambulance and immediately took her to the operation theatre....
Khushi tried calling Arnav...but He had switched off his phone...she thought he might be in meeting...she called Aman even his phone was not reachable....
Luckily NK had receptionist mobile number...so he called her and got Aman’s PA’s number and asked him to inform Arnav or Aman about the emergency as he would always stay late in the office with Aman...as rest of the staff would leave after their work time....
ENGAGEMENT HALL
Anjali had come to the engagement within minutes after NK and Khushi left....so none of them knew about Nani’s condition.....she went to Sohan and congragulated him n his would be wife....
Sohan:Di...where is Kuku??
Anjali:I was about to ask you...why she didn’t come??
Sohan:No...she had come with NK and wished me also...but now I have been looking for her from half an hour...I am not able to find her or NK...
Anjali:Wait...let me call her...
She calls Khushi...ON CALL
Anjali:Khushi...where are you??Its your cousin’s engagement here!!!
Khushi:(tensed)Di...Nani is in the hospital....I am here only...
Anjali:(Shocked)What?? Hospital???What happened??
Khushi:I too dono di...HP ji called and told me that she is having chest pain so we brought here in MR Bhatia’s hospital....
Anjali:Ok we will be thr....in few mins...
Khushi:Ok di...
Anjali told Sohan and Shyam about Nani..to which even they were tensed....and finally apologising to Sohan ...Shyam and Anjali went to the hospital..
HOSPITAL
DR Bhatia came out and found NK Arnav’s friend...and another unfamiliar women....
NK:What happened to Nani uncle??
DR Bhatia:NK...she had an heart attack.....
NK&Khushi:(shocked)What??
DR Bhatia:Yes Nk...
Nk:But she had a bypass surgery before 2 years and how this...I mean..??
DR Bhatia:Yes ..but after bypass the chances of getting heart attack increases...but none knows exact reason till today...many researchers did research on this but none of them are able to give a valid explaination for that...
NK:How is she now??
DR Bhatia:We will have to keep her in observation fpr 24 hours...for now she is still unstable....
NK:Ok thank you uncle...
DR Bhatia:Thts ok....
He leaves....Khushi sighs n sits on the chair present there worried....
NK:Khushi....dont worry nothing will happen...
Khushi:I am worried fr Arnav NK...he is still not here...I dono how he will react after he gets to know this....
NK:Hmmmm....
Soon Anjali and Shyam came and were also worried knowing about her condition....
AR
Arnav switched on his phone after meeting and was shocked to see so many missed calls from HP,NK nad Khushi....same time Aman came hurriedly and told him about his nani that his PA told him now....Arnav was shocked to know this so immediately he called NK and confirmed it and left to the hospital immediately...
HOSPITAL
Arnav came there tensed and became more worried after listening to NK’s words about what DR had told...which he hid in his stern face but everyone who were present there knew what was going on in his mind!!
Khushi knew he was tensed more than that he looked scared...of loosing her..but he was not the person who would tell his feelings openly....
10.00P.M
Everyone including HP was waiting outside......DR came outside...
DR Bhatia:She is still under observation...we allow only 1 or 2 people to stay with the patient so others can leave....
HE LEAVES
Anjali:I’ll stay....with Nani...
Khushi:No...Di...u go home...kids need you...its already late...
Anjali:But....
Khushi:Plss di...I ll stay here....You and jiju...go home...
Anjali(sighs):Ok...but call me if you need anything....
Khushi:OK...
Shyam and Anjali leaves after asking Arnav to take care of himself and Nani...
NK:Khushi.....You and Arnav go to RM and get freshen up and come...till then I ll be here...
Khushi:But...
NK:Khushi....you both need to change and nani needs a set of spare clothes...for tomorrow and you have to drop HP back home even he looks tired...
Khushi:OK...
Khushi goes near Arnav....as he sat silently without speaking anything.....
Khushi:Arnav we should go home and change and come...we have to get Nani’s clothes..also....
He just looks at her
ASR:(plainly)OK...and leaves....
Khushi was sad to look at him like that...she knew he is hiding his feelings....and pain
NK:Khushi...try to speak to him...once your home...he doesn’t share things usually...but he is very much disturbed by this....
Khushi:OK....
When Khushi came outside along with HP...Arnav stood leaning to his car...closin his eyes.....
Khushi:Arnav....
Arnav opened his eyes and started opening the driver seat door to drive..as he had come on his own after geeting to know about his Nani...
Khushi:Arnav...I ll drive....
ASR:OK....
With that he went and sat in the passenger seat in the front and HP took the back seat..and Khushi started the car and started driving towards RM
She knew he was not in the condition to drive so she herself suggested that she would drive...throughout the journey..she kept glancing at him..but he had his head rested on the headrest of the seat with his eyes closed....she had never seen him so disturbed...and his silence was not helping much either....
Within 15 mins they reached RM...and Arnav went straight to his room...she informed HP to take rest and also thanked him fr helping Nani at the right time....
She came to her room to find Arnav already in washroom...so she went to the dressing table n removed her earrings,necklace,bangles n untied her hair from the clip....leaving her hair open...she took out her clothes to change n placed it on bed so that she could change as soon as he comes out....
She remembered about Nani’s clothes...and went to her room to get a pair of clothes and essential and toiletries that she might need tmrw....she came back to room and saw Arnav standing in the pool side with his back faced...for Khushi unable to see his face....
So she went n called his name....
Khushi:Arnav....
Arnav wiped his tears hurriedly...n turned towards her....
Khushi looked shocked seeing him with his eyes blood red...a lost look on his face...she knew he was trying to hide his pain...
ASR:Yes??
She didn’t know what to do ...but she thought she has to console him...with that she put aside all her thoughts came forward and hugged him...givin all the comfort and assurance that he needed that time.....
Khushi(in hug):Nani will be fine ...don worry....
Arnav stood frozen because of the hug as he didn’t expect her to hug him...but he slowly raised his hands on her back to hug her tightly to himself keeping his head on her right shoulder...as he needed assurance and comfort right now...
Khushi felt his drops of tears fall on her skin on right shoulder and knew he was crying ...now....
ASR(in tears):I am scared Khushi...I don’t want to lose her....I have noone except her to call my own....
Khushi:(caressing back)Its Ok Arnav...Nothing will happen to her....She will be fine by tomorrow morning....
ASR(in tears)I have lost my dad and mom Khushi I have no strength to lose her now...
Khushi:(coming out of hug...n cupping his face....)Nothing will happen trust me...nani will be fine...
ASR:(in hope)Are u sure??
Khushi:Yes.....(smiles slightly)Ok...I ll go and change and come..we have to leave for hospital also...
ASR:OK...
Khushi came after changing and they left after taking Nani’s clothes..while going also Khushi only drove and Arnav had agreed to her...by the time they reached it was 11.15 P.M Khushi asked NK to leave ...to which even he agreed....
Inside Nani’s room there were extra two small beds placed to either side of Nani’s as NK had informed DR Bhatia that two people will be staying with her...but neither Khushi nor Arnav was in a state to sleep...so they both came and sat on the two seater placed in one corner of the room looking at Nani...
Arnav was looking at his Nani..hoping that she would be fine by tomorrow...seeing that Khushi held his hands in hers...assuring him...
Khushi:Nani will be fine...Don worry...
ASR:(sighs)Hmmm
With that both rested their heads on the headrest of the two seater with hand held by each other as support hoping that next morning would give them some good news about Nani’s recovery.....
