The next morning when Martha looked in the mirror she cried in astonishment.  There were more strands of brown hair running thru her gray hair.  She touched her hair and it actually seemed thicker.  Were her eyes deceiving her or did she have a few less wrinkles in her face?

Nurse Ruthie came into the room.  Helped her to get dressed as usual.  Martha was waiting for Ruthie to say something about her changed appearance.  Nothing was said.  Apparently Ruthie hadn't noticed it.  But surely her best friend Irene would notice.  Martha couldn't wait to see Irene.

After breakfast, Martha asked that her wheelchair be next to Irene for craft time.

"Irene, do you notice anything different about me today?"

Irene looked at Martha for a long time.

"No," she mumbled as she continued working on her needlepoint.
