It was well close to midnight when we finished telling the adults everything that happened. Wyatt and Chris had ice packs and bandages all over them, Pandora was drinking herbal tea, Melinda was bandaging her wounds and I had an ice pack taped to my head.
"That was absolutely wreckless and dangerous and completely irresponsible!" Piper shouted.
"What were we supposed to do? Wait until Mordered killed Melinda and Chris not to mention Pandora?" Wyatt argued back.
"You could at least have called us and not let us come home to our children gone and our house ruined!" Piper said with a worried look on her face.
"Sorry I was a little busy being beaten to death to ask for cell phone reception." Chris bit removing an ice pack from his eyebrow.
Piper raised an eyebrow at him.
"You don't have to worry about that anymore. Mordered is gone." I told her.
None of us had the energy to argue let alone think of something to say.
"We'll discuss this in the morning. All of you go get some rest." Leo ordered.
We all groaned as we got up, aching and bruised. We all walked like zombies up the stairs.
Tonight was a victory but it certainly didn't feel like one.
************************************************
I drew back my bed sheets and closed my curtains. I hadn't even changed out of my clothes yet. I had never been so eager to get into bed before. But of course, nature had to call.
I dragged my feet out of my bedroom and down the hall to the bathroom. I was going to knock on the door but it opened.
Chris was there. He attempted a smile but I knew he was just as tired as I was.
"Goodnight." He said softly.
He leant down and gave me a hug. I was surprised at first but I let it happen. He then drew back and walked into his room.
I smiled and then went into the bathroom. I splashed water on my face and let the air cool me down. I picked up a towel a wiped my face. I stared at my reflection in the mirror.
I made a good choice. It was the right choice. My choice. My brain began rambling again and everything Chris had told me earlier in the kitchen was playing on my mind.
I went back to my bedroom to get changed. I took of my jeans and dropped them on the floor.
I stopped.
I looked down at my jeans again. Sticking out of the back pocket was a white piece of paper. I leant down and pulled it out of my pocket. I unraveled it and it read a message.
Meet on the front porch at dawn
- Chris
He must have slipped into my pocket when we hugged. Great. I left my shirt on and just climbed into bed. I could get at least four hours sleep before I meet him on the porch. I lay my head down in the pillow and I didn't even have to force my eyes closed. They just did.
--------------------------------------------
My alarm clock buzzed. It was dawn. I somehow got up out of my bed and pulled on a pair of shorts. I carefully opened my door to make sure nobody was up and about. Then I quietly walked across the landing and sneaked downstairs.
When I came to the front door it was open and Chris was sitting on the steps. I could see the sun rising directly in front of him. It made the manor glow with yellowy orange light.
I went over to him. When he heard me he got up and turned around.
"What did you want to talk about?" I asked worryingly.
He sighed, the sun magnifying his bruised, beautiful face.
"I can't let what happened today happen again. I won't put you in that situation again just because I've been taken hostage by medieval psychopath." He explained.
"I got you all out safe didn't I?" I asked.
He then looked at me with his piercing green eyes.
"What if you didn't. I mean you had to choose between me or my siblings. I won't let you have to make that decision again." He said with hurt in his voice.
"What are you saying exactly?" I asked my voice becoming a little shaky.
"I'm saying that I'm leaving. So I can't hurt my family and the elders can't hurt you by getting to me." He force the words out.
"You're planning on leaving after I've chosen you?" I said with a confused look on my face.
"My offer for you still stands. We can run away together." He offered again.
I stood there looking at him. My brain went over this in the bathroom. I was ready.
"Okay." I began. "I'll run away with you."
