Chapter 10: Hawkins v.s. Wright Pt. 1

Tuesday morning

Destiny's P.O.V

Kendrick and I were heading to pick up Prince and to get the test results. "Good Morning Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins" Ms. Andrews said. "Do you want me to read the results or do you want to read them?" Kendrick looked at me. "It doesn't matter" "You can read them" I held Kendrick's hand and closed my eyes. "Okay. Mr. Hawkins you are not the father. I'm so sorry" Kendrick let go of my hand and punched the wall. I hugged him from behind. "I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry" He didn't turn around he just continued to cry. "I'll give you two some time" "Can I please get a retake?" He asked as his tears fell. "I'm sorry but it is accurate" Ms.Andrews walked away. "He's mine! Regardless want the test say! I signed the birth certificate! I was there when he came into this world! His name is Prince Lee HAWKINS!" I continued to cry as he got more and more upset. I hurt him so much. The nurse came with Prince and handed him to Kendrick. "Congratulations again" she said with a smile. Kendrick kissed Prince's forehead. "Thank you" The nurse walked away.

Kendrick's P.O.V

I looked down at Prince confused on how he isn't mine. He's a mixture of me and Destiny he looks nothing like Damon. I looked over at Destiny who hand her back facing me crying. I gave her Prince and she took him without turning around. I wrapped my arms around her waist. "I'm not going anywhere. He's my son. I love my family too much to leave. You're still my everything Destiny" She turned around and looked at me with her red eyes. "I'm sorry" "You saying sorry isn't going to change anything. I forgave you long time ago" I kissed her on the lips. "I love you" "I love you too" We walked out the hospital. By the time we got home it was nine we didn't have to be at the courthouse until 10:30. When we walked inside all eyes were on us. Lisa walked over. "Good morning guys. Give me my grand baby" Destiny handed him over and we walked into the den. Shaniel jumped. "Did you guys get the results?" Destiny sniffed then ran upstairs. "He isn't yours?" Lisa asked. "Biologically no" My mom hugged me. "It's going to be alright" "I'll be ok. I'm worried about Destiny. She can't stop crying " "She's hurt" my mom said. "I'm hurt too. We can work on this together. Why can't she understand that I am here for her! I'm not going anywhere!" I started to pace back and forth. "I don't know what to do. I'm trying everything to make her happy" "She's going to come around just give her time" Lisa said. "What time is the court date?" my mom asked. "10:30" "We'll be right here supporting y'all. He won't get away he can't" We relaxed in the den and Destiny soon walked in. "It's 10:00 do you want to leave?" I asked. "Yes" "Who's staying with the twins?" Shaniel asked. "We're staying" my mom said. "Shaniel you're staying too" "What? Why?" "You're not coming with us" "Fine Kendrick" Destiny and I headed to the courthouse. I grabbed her hand. "Are you nervous?" "Yeah a little" "What's the matter?" "He's the biological father. His family is going to want to be around him". "Don't worry we got this" We walked in hand and hand. As we waited to go I saw Damon. He smiled. "B****" he mouthed. Destiny grabbed my hand. "Ignore him" She kissed me.

Destiny's P.O.V

We were soon called in. Kendrick and I walked in hand and hand. We couldn't let go of one another. The judge soon walked in. "Good morning Mr. Davis" She smiled. It wasn't a friendly smile but a flirtatious one. "Mrs. Hawkins what seems to be the problem?" "This man has tried to kill my family, he vandalized my property, and he raped me" "Wha-" "While I was pregnant" She gave me a glare. "Do you have proof?" I gave the bailiff the pictures of the broken glass and the car. "How do you know he did this?" "Um I don't" "Do you have proof of him harming your family?" "My husband was shot by him one day looking for me" "Mr.Hawkins please stand" Kendrick did as told. "Now Mr.Hawkins is this true?" "Yes your honor" "Mr.Wright did you shoot him?" "No your honor" He just stood there and told a bold face lie. "Mr.Hawkins do you have proof?" "Yes ma'am" He handed the papers off. "Uhh Mr. Hawkins you can have a seat. Mrs. Hawkins did you lose the baby?" "No your honor" "Do you mind telling me who the father is?" "I'm the father" Kendrick mumbled. "Mr. Wright is" His family gasped. "Okay. Mr. Wright tell me your side" "Well your honor u didn't try to kill anyone. I didn't vandalize her car. I didn't rape her". I looked over and Damon smiled. "Um your honor I never said what was vandalized. The only one that knew it was my car was my family, the police, and now you. I never mentioned my car". His smile faded. "Well Mr. Wright that's the second lie you have told the court". He cleared his throat. "That's all I need to hear. The jury will be back with the ruling" Kendrick grabbed my hand and we walked out for some air. "I think we just won" He smiled. I kissed him. "I think we did too" An hour later we were called back in. "That took too long I don't feel go about this" "Don't worry he isn't going to get away" He kissed me on the cheek before sitting down. The judge walked in. She smiled at Damon.  God please. "Welcome back. Has the Jury came to a verdict?" "Yes ma'am. We find the defendant Damon Wright not guilty" his family cheered. "What the hell do you mean he isn't guilty?!" Kendrick yelled. "Mr. Hawkins sit down" "No my wife was rapped you have the proof. I was shot you have the proof. Did my son have to f****** die for him to be guilty?!" The courtroom fell silent. "Your son?" He walked up to Kendrick. "You mean my son pretty boy" I grabbed his arm. "Come on" he didn't move. Kendrick got closer and Damon smiled. "You best believe you will get yours! God doesn't like ugly"  Kendrick grabbed my hand. "Oh and judge since you f****** Mr. Wright and that's the real reason why he's not guilty you will get yours too" We walked out. When we got in the car Kendrick let out a huge sigh. "Lord I was scared" he chucked. "Did you see the cop with his hand on his belt. I thought he was going to shoot me especially after I talked about the judge" "I knew you were scared but you played it off perfectly" I kissed him.

Kendrick's P.O.V

The ride home was silent. When we pulled up to the house we saw that our windows were shot out. "My babies!" Destiny screamed. "Stay here" "No I'm coming with you!" "Destiny please stay here" She started to cry. I kissed her then got out the car. I walked up unarmed. I looked in the den and there was no one there. I looked in the kitchen still no one. I looked all downstairs then went upstairs. I pulled out my phone and saw that I had a voicemail. I played it as I walked back outside.

Kendrick Lisa and I went over to my house. Not the one that I share with your father but the one I lived with Elijah in. Don't worry no one is hurt. Hope everything went well at court. See you soon.

"What happened?" "The kids and Lisa are at my mom's place" "What about the house?" "The house is totally damaged but nothing we can't replace" "Did you touch anything?" "No" "Good more evidence"

We pulled up to my mom's place. When we walked inside she was holding Prince. "My baby" Destiny said. "Mommy!" The twins yelled. We walked into the den. "Hey guys!" Shaniel said. "Hey" "Did you guys see who did that to our house?" "It was Damon's clique. One of them yelled 'this is for Damon' and started shooting" Lisa said. "Did you guys by chance get it on video?" "No" Destiny shook her head. That's probably the only way the judge will believe us" "Did you guys win the case?" Shaniel asked. My jaw clenched. "That's not fair!" Shaniel said. "I know that's how we felt" Destiny said. "What are you going to do?" my mom asked. "Just going to leave it up to God to handle him" "That's right Lisa said."You guys are welcome to stay here" "Thank you so much Shondrica" "Thank you. Don't worry we won't be here long. I'm going to start cleaning up the house tomorrow" "No you can't go back there! What if he comes back?" "Destiny said. "That's a risk I'm willing to take. I love you guys so much. I'm willing to risk my life for y'all. God has my back if it's my time I'll go but if it's not you'll see me again...
