Chapter 17:It's All Over

Kendrick's Pov

I was on my way home when I got a call from some random number. Come to find out it was the same guy that try to mess up my house. He told me that I should meet up with him to learn more about his brother. When I got there he was up against his car. I got out and left the car running. "What's up Kendrick?" "Sup.." "Listen my brother is pissed because I didn't do what I was supposed to do. Now he has a hit our for your whole family". "So what can I do to prevent anything from happening?" "You honestly can't do anything but keep your family safe. I will tell you that he switched his car and now drives a black camry". "What year?" "I can't tell you that man. I already told you too much". "Alright. Thanks for the help man" "No problem" We part ways. The guy sped off and before I could get in my car another car pulled up. It was the guy that raped my wife! "Don't go anywhere!" He yelled as he pulled out a gun. "Step away from the car" I slowly moved away from the car with my gun in my back pocket. "Kendrick. Yeah I know your name. All you had to do was go on with your life. I got what I wanted so I was going to leave you all alone". "So why did you try to get your brother to rob our house?" "I needed money so I was going to sell some of your things but the idiot let you guys catch him", "Listen man it was hard" "Deonte chill" "Man just let me go man. I'm not going to talk to the police. I'll even make sure Destiny doesn't". He let out a small chuckle."Why on earth should I do that?" "Because my kids didn't do anything to you. If you want to hurt anyone hurt me if that makes you feel better". "Dang you really love that girl" "Yes man!" He aimed the gun at me. That's when I heard a gunshot. "Justin slowly turned around to find his brother behind him. Justin dropped to his knees. "I have a family dude I can't stand here and watch you hurt an innocent family". Justin soon fell on his stomach gasping for air. "Go! I'm about to call 911I can't watch him die". "What?" "Go!" Devin got in his car and sped off. I called 911and they soon arrived. They took Justin to the hospital. "Mr.Hawkins what did you see?" "I lulled over because I got a call from my wife. When I pulled up I found him on the ground". I watched as the officer wrote down what I said. "Alright Mr.Hawkins get to your wife. have a good night" "You too sir" I got in the car and my heart speed stared to slow down. I can believe I just lied to a cop. I can't believe I just helped the man that raped my wife. I guess my mom raised me this way. I started it up and headed home..

Kendrick's Pov

I pulled up to the house and started thinking about what Destiny's reactions was going to be when I told her what just happened. I walked into the house and found her, the kids, and Ashley watching tv. "Daddy!" the twins yelled. They ran up to me and I gave them a hug and a kiss. "Hey Baby" I kissed Destiny. "Hey. Can I talk to you upstairs?" "Sure" She gave Prince to Ashley then headed upstairs. I closed the door behind me. "So what's the matter?" "You remember the guy that tried to rob the house?" "Yeah" "Well he. called me and told me that he had some things to tell me about his brother and to meet up with him". "What happened?" "When I met up with him he told me everything. Then his brother showed up and tried to kill me. His brother jumped in and shot him. Now he's off to the hospital and I allowed his brother go because he saved my life. I had to lie to the cops and everything". "Why do you continue to let that guy go?! So what he shot his brother?! You don't have to keep letting him go!" "He hasn't done anything wrong Destiny". "Who knows what he has really done?" "He has a family. I know you're frustrated but an innocent man shouldn't be thrown in jail". "Just get out Kendrick". "What did I do?!" "Just get out!" She pushed me up against the door and started hitting me. I grabbed her hands. "Destiny stop! Relax!" "I hate you!" she said still swinging and kicking. "Destiny!" I placed her down on the bed and climbed on top of her. I pinned her down to try to calm her down. "Baby stop" She was able to get one of her hands free and slapped me then spit in my face. "Go to hell!" I got up of off her and picked up my keys from the floor. She continued hitting me until I was out the door. I headed downstairs. "Kendrick what's wrong?" Ashley asked. "Daddy!"
