The day had been good until Cheryl got home. If she could even correlate that place with that word anymore.
It has been close to a year now that the men who conceived her was found lifeless by his wife on their barn.
Hang himself was a coward's choice Cheryl thought, not accepting the consequences of his actions when sheriff Keller found out about what really was the family business. The tip coming from his own son who was being trained to take over their maple syrup industry.
As soon as their father told Jason what was really happening under the covers, the boy backed away from his family, the older men thinking he would come around only waited, until a few weeks later one of his henchmen warned him about the police, but it was too late, the sheriff was on his way and the twins father made the choice to pass the string around his neck, only minutes before all of the confusion happened.
A scream of a woman and the sirens of the cops entangled together while Jason's voice tried to explain everything to his sister.
Cheryl was chocked, but only for a few minutes, her father had always been a shady man, her parents different from the others, not caring and loving, at least never to her.
She was proud of her brother for studding up to them and not letting a barn full of drugs be their family legacy, they would build another future for the Blossom's.
For her father a single tear was shed, not that he even deserved one, never caring for the girl, always being the second choice, a curse, the child they never wanted but they were stuck with.
Her mother not being much better after that incident she changed, started being better, affectionate, but it was all a phase, which passed when she started drinking months later and has not stopped since.
But Cheryl forgot that day, she forgot that she didn't live in a house where she was loved, but only tolerated, Jason loved her yes, but he couldn't heal the years of mistreat and the hurtful words that came from her mother's mouth every time she took a sip, and it wasn't different that night.
-Mom, why you're drinking again?- Jason started carefully sitting next to the woman
-Oh Jason, baby, it reminds of the good old times- she sighed dreamily -it reminds me of your father and how happy the three of us were-
-Great, she drank so much that she has amnesia now- Cheryl blurted out hurtful and the other ginger woman turned to her
-Oh, Cheryl, you're here- Penelope finally seemed to cognize her daughters presence in the room
-Yes mother, I'm here, at my own house, what a surprise!- the girl rolled her eyes not having the patience to deal with her mother
-You watch that tone young lady- Penelope got up from the couch too fast and spilled the rest of the wine in her glass on the carpet -see what you made me do? You're going to clean this now- the older woman said angrily
-Are you serious right now?- She scoffed -I can't handle this today- she got the keys from the car from the key holder and stormed off to the door
-I'll sleep at Veronica's I'll see you tomorrow Jason- and with that she left the house, tears threaten to come out but the HBIC wouldn't let them, she wouldn't let her mother hurt her again.
Getting into Pembrooke's driveway she only saw veronica's car so she assumed her parents had already went to their trip, so she got out of the car and rang the doorbell, Veronica didn't even say anything when she saw a broken spirited Cheryl in her doorsteps.
This scene occurred more than they would like to admit.
So they just went on with making some popcorn and picking a movie to get their heads of the things both girls didn't want to think about.
After scrolling through Netflix for a while, they just chose their usual movie and seconds later mean girls started playing on the enormous TV of Veronica's living room.
~
Waking up to the sun hitting her face, Cheryl opened her eyes and took a few seconds to adjust with the light realizing she was still in Veronica's couch.
She just figured she had fallen asleep during the movie and after hearing some movements in the kitchen the red haired got up from her seat and headed to the other room to find one Veronica Lodge making pancakes, raising an eyebrow Cheryl said
-I didn't know you could cook- a shrill scream came out of Veronica's mouth and a loud laugh came from the other, seeing how scared the raven girl had gotten
-Shit Cheryl, don't sneak on people like that- the girl said with one of her hands still placed firming onto her chest
-Sorry, Sorry- the taller girl apologized sitting on the stool of the balcony and asked again -I thought you had your own personal chef?-
Whilst placing one pancake in front of Cheryl she answered -I gave everyone the day off, only Andre refused to leave but I made him promise not to say anything to my dad about the party tonight- the girl continued -are you going to stay straight to that? Or you're not in the mood anymore?-
Putting one piece of the pancake in her mouth and realizing it was actually good the girl responded after she swallowed -Jesus I totally forgot about that, but yeah I'm okay, I could use that-
-Great, it wouldn't be the same without you and I think you left some clothes here the other day you could use-
Veronica kept babbling about how great it would be but Cheryl stopped listening, she would attend at the party but no, she wasn't in the mood, but anything would be better than come back to her house with her mother.
