It was Spirits Eve!!! I have been waiting for this day since the last Spirits Eve ending! It was my FAVORITE day! Not only because of the Golden Pumpkin ((that gave me a lot of money)), but because of the fact that all of the bacholer and bacholorettes gather for a spooky movie night! We always go to a diffrent house every Spirits Eve and we usually have a contest. Whoever can stay in the room without getting scared off, wins! Alex always wins every year. Maru and Elliott tie every year for last. This year though, I WILL beat him. Even though I'm at a disadvantage. It's taking place at his house tonight.

I decide to stop worrying about it and just go for it. I walk out into the night. It's EXTREMELY cold and I didn't bring my jacket. I'm a farmer after all...THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS JACKETS!!!

I arrive at his place early today because I want to see if I can get any advice from Evelyn ((Alex's grandmother)).

I walked in and the place smelt like fresh backed cookies. I knew Alex was not here and it was pretty clear that Evelyn WAS. I called for her and she came around the corner.

"Oh, (Y/N)! I was just backing cookies for this little party that Alex is hosting. He is such a good boy! Well, why are you early? It starts 30 minutes from now!" Evelyn asked.

"Well...I wanted to get here early to see if you were willing to give me some hints on how to beat him this year! Plus, I forgot to bring my jacket and It's cold." I told Evelyn.

"Oh...well have a seat then! I will tell you a few things..." Evelyn said.

I pulled up a chair and sat down.

"Well you see, Alex plans to go undefeated this year and he does not want to take any chances, so he picked out the perfect movie to make sure he gets EVERYONE. This movie scared him as a child, but he watched it enough times to where he knows every jumpscare." Evelyn said as she was putting the cookies in the oven.

"Oh...so this movie is meant to hit us all in out weak spots?" I asked.

"Percisely! Alex actually did research for once and looked at what exactly you kids are afraid of!" Evelyn told.

Oh god...he was bringing out the big guns this year. I was still determined!!!

"Well...do you know how I could beat him?" I asked.

"Well now...I don't know...You can't exactly LOOK scared...because you will be disqualified...So I would just suggest to give it your all and stay determined! Focus on your prize! What I use to do is daydream while looking at the screen! That sped up time for me!" Evelyn said.

Daydream huh? Sounded good!

"Great! Thanks!" I thanked Evelyn.

"No problem! You're a good person! You deserve at least one victory huh? Have a good night (Y/N)!" Evelyn said.

I got up and went back outside. I knew I had the advantage this year. I would NOT be defeated!!!

I walked around for a little. I got the Golden Pumpkin and said hi to everyone. Their tactics were all the same. Just to wait it out and expect the unexpected. I knew I would win...

After I started walking, Alex swooped by my side.

"Hey Farmer! Got new pants?" He asked.

"No...I don't..." I said annoyed. He KNEW that I hated it when he said...THAT SENTENCE...

"Hehe...Make sure you're coming to my place tonight ok?" Alex said.

"Wouldn't miss it for anything." I said back.

Alex ran to his house to do some last minute preperations.

I waited at his doorstep with everybody else. Everyone was anxious about what would come. Alex then opened the door.

"Hey everybody! Welcome to my house! We all know the rules so let's get down to buisness!!!" Alex told with joy.

We all walked into his house. The smell of cookies filled my nostrils as we walked over to his room. The room was very dark, and it was hard to see anything but a TV in the center of the room.

"So...anyone want to sit in the middle? It's the best view and I don't wanna take it all to myself." Alex said with a devilish grin.

We all looked at eachother and decided for me to sit in the middle. I was not happy about this but I had tricks up my sleeve.

We all started the movie. I had to take my mind off it but look at the screen at the exact same time? How does one do that? I decided to try.

I started to ask myself very hard questions and try to answer them. Example:
If I was farming 15 parsnips, and everyone in town wanted one. It doesn't matter what size you give them, they all have to have at least the equal amount. What would you have to do to give all of them this amount?

I kept that in my head and it was tricky. I don't even think that there was even an answer to this question. I kept cracking at it until I heard a scream.

I came back to my senses and to a suprise, most of the people were gone! It was just me, Alex, Hailey, and Emily.

"Man...this movie is so boring!" Alex said with frustration.

"Y-yeah...totally..." Hailey quivered.

"There are definitley a bunch of scares in it!!!" Emily said with her usual positive attitude.

"Ehh...I'm not really that into it..." I said with disgust.

Alex, Hailey, and Emily both looked at me with a weird look on their faces.

"What do you mean?" Alex asked.

"Well...It's not that scary..." I told them.

They all looked at eachother. I knew I had them right where I wanted them.

"Well...enough chatting! Back to the movie!!!" Emily said.

I went right back to my mindspace. I couldn't believe this was ACTUALLY working. I might just win this year! Then, I could get bragging rights! I would have to thank Evelyn later.

An hour passed and I then went out of my mindspace. I could not believe it. It was just me and Alex.

I looked at him and he gave me a devilish grin.

"Still going huh? You're giving it your all this year." Alex said suprised.

"Yep! I'm gonna win this year. The movie is almost over!!!" I cheerfully said.

"Well...I know ONE thing that would get you out of here..." Alex told.

"Oh? And what might that be?" I questioned.

Alex then pulled me closer to him. He put his arm around me like they did in those movies where the guy/girl would put their arm around the other in a attempt to flirt. That was what he was talking about! FLIRTING!!! MY ONLY WEAKNESS!!!

"You do know...that I had a crush on you since the day we met...right?" Alex said.

I growled at him. He was playing dirty!!! How dare he!!! Well you know what they say, fight fire with fire!

I also knew that he had a softspot. I leaned in and kissed him right on the cheek without thinking. Why do I do such things?

He looked at me and with not a moment of words, his face turned into a tomato.

"Uhh..uh..." He stammered.

He then rushed out of the room in a blazing speed of light. I knew I had won. But...was it worth it?

I could of let him flirt with me for a little while longer...
