Maru X Reader - The Feast of the Winter Star Miracle

So, I was just getting up in the morning. I got up and I skipped breakfest because I wanted to see what was in my mailbox. I waited long enough until I would see who I would be giving a gift to this year! Last year, I got Abigail and I couldn't find a gift to give her, so I had to give her a Pumpkin that I harvested last year. I could tell that she didn't enjoy it...But this year was going to be different!!! I had a Diamond with me so I was pretty good to go.

I looked into the mailbox and suprise suprise, there was a letter! I opened the letter as quick as a kid opening their gifts. I looked inside, read the letter, and I got Maru for the Star gift!

I like Maru, but I know that she can give some pretty strange gifts. Last year, I saw her give a gift to Sebastian, and it was a little robot. She said that it was something to "work on" for him. I knew it was strange, but I didn't know that it also had a detonate button on it...Sebastian didn't either...

I was gonna get her back for that because Sebastian was a close friend. He and Penny were there for me when I had the flu. They decided to take care of my farm for me too! I would avenge them even if it meant making a scene...or dealing with Demetrius...*Shudder*

I was thinking of what to give to Maru this year. What could be disgusting enough but still not bad enough to make her cry...I'm not that mean...

I decided to settle on getting some Pepper Poppers for her Christmas gift. I mean, It's spicy, not warm, but it's a thoughtful gift! Besides, I'm sure that if she doesn't want it, she can go give it to Shane anyway. He loves his Pepper Poppers.

I got the ingrediants to make those Poppers. I already had the peppers from summer, and I could easily get the cheese from my cow! I gathered it all into my house and I made the Poppers with the recipe Shane gave me. This year was gonna be so good.

I was walking into town. The cold tempurature made me freeze my butt off, but JACKETS ARE FOR LOSERS!!! I can bare the weather...kinda...

I went into town and to my suprise of course, everyone was there. I went on over and looked at the tree. I couldn't believe how good this tree looked even after all these years of seeing it. The tree glistened in the winter fog as I enjoyed seeing it.

Maru then walked over to me. She was wearing an ugly Christmas sweater as she wore every year, and a jacket. Probably forced on by Demetrius. She then started to conversate with me.

"Hey Y/N! How are you doing this eve?"

"Ehh...pretty good...It's a little chilly though..."

"Oh...Why don't you put a coat or a sweater on? Aren't you cold?"

"Yes I'm...But I don't really have a coat...I just wear the same clothes all year round'!!!"

"Haha! Y/N you're so funny!!!"

I wasn't joking...

"Hehe...yeah I guess I'm...but I really wish I was at home right now..."

"Why would you say that?" She asked.

"Well...I guess I just lost the spirit of The Feast of the Winter Star. I guess I kinda don't feel as happy as when I was a kid...I feel so grown up now..." I told.

Maru froze. She looked down as if she were ashamed and then looked back up to me.

"Y/N...I'm sorry..." She said.

"Sorry for what?" I asked.

"This..." She held out a present. It looked just like any other present. I didn't understand what was wrong.

"I don't understand...What's so bad about a present?" I asked.

"That's because it's a gag present..." She said in a quiet tone.

I didn't understand. It's just her normal gag presents. She gags everyone every year. Why is she feeling remorse JUST now?

"Hearing what you said, made me think...Why do I do this? I'm not a kid anymore either...and I need to stop acting like one...I keep doing this charade every year and I keep hurting everyone's feelings even though others give me really great gifts! I'm a bad person..." She admitted.

I see...Now I kinda felt like a kid reacting the way I did.

"You can hate me now if you want..." Maru said.

I didn't WANT to hate her. She was the one who pranked everyone in the other years. But then again, I did get her Pepper Poppers this year in which  she CLEARLY doesn't like. Now I feel bad...

"I-I'm sorry Maru. I should be saying sorry too..." I explained.

"What do you mean by that?"

I showed the box that I held and opened it up. Inside was the Pepper Poppers I was gonna give her.

"Wait...is that my present?" Maru asked.

"Yeah...I was trying to get you back after last year when you exploded Sebastian's face..." I admitted.

"Heh! Yeah...he STILL hasn't forgave me for that. I guess I do deserve it!" Maru explained.

Linus then came over to us both.

"So...have you both learned your lesson?" Linus asked.

"What do you mean? You made us secret buddies on purpose?" Maru asked.

"Yes...Don't think I don't hear you two making your plans. You're not very quiet about it!" Linus chuckled.

Me and Maru both look embarrased.

"So...what was the lesson suppose to be? To see if I got it right!" I asked.

Linus rolled his eyes and then said,

"The Feast of the Winter Star is a time to be with friends and family. It's not a time to goof around and play pranks on eachother. It's suppose to teach us all how much we really do appreciate friends and family that help us with our troubled times. We're all a community, but we could all call eachother family! That's what this is all about." Linus told.

Evelyn then came over.

"Percisely! And It's also about the REAL story as well...remember..." Evelyn scolded.

"Hehe! I know I know..." Linus said.

Me and Maru looked at eachother. I guess we could call eachother family. We're good friends, but I guess there's something a little more to that.

"I'm sorry Y/N...I promise to make it up to you! And to everyone else that I pranked this year..." Maru said with ambition.

"Heh! Me too! Actually...I think I could repay you right now!" I said with excitement.

Maru looked at me confused. I searched around into my pockets and I saw it. The diamond I was gonna sell earlier today.

I held it out and Maru's expression widened. She was so suprised that she looked like she saw a dinosaur appear in her backyard...That happened before though...

"Wh-A DIAMOND!?! How did you GET that!?!" Maru screamed.

"All that time down in the mines was worth it! I got really lucky!" I explained.

Maru held the diamond like it meant the WORLD to her. She then stared at me and said in the sweetest tone I've ever heard...

"Thank you"...

Authors note: I'M NOT CLOSING THIS UP BABY!!! I can't belive ppl enjoy this stuff I made...and to be honest, I really liked this story I made myself...I'll keep making more stories on a regular basis! I promise!!!
