I have no words...I'm so sorry for how late this was.

Also I love this song so much and it fits with the situation.

Josephine's POV

{Can't Quit You}

"You really don't have to bring me so much," I say with a grateful sigh, as Jessica places another thick sweater on the hotel bed.

She just smiles at me and sits down, closing her empty luggage. "Are you kidding? We're friends aren't we? You're really not prepared for this weather at all and I want to make sure that you don't die on me."

"You're so sweet, thanks so much," I tell her. A few days ago, while I was eating breakfast, Jessica came up to me and started making easy conversation. She's staying in the hotel too for a few months because she's studying the ecosystem here. We tend to hang out in my room, actually we only hang out in the hotel room, because she claims her room is too messy from her research and I can understand that.

She sits down on a seat and lets out a sigh before looking around. "So, how long are you planning to stay here?" she asks.

"I don't know," I mumble, looking around the room. I don't know how long I've been here. I pull the curtains to keep me in the dark because I don't want to risk anyone working for Rhazien to find me but now that I think about it...what more can I do?

I have nothing to do and nowhere to go. This entire situation is hopeless. Yes I can run and run but do I really want to spend the rest of my life running away? I've seen the movies and I know how that can ruin somebody. And besides, everybody dies. It's a matter of when and where. Does it really matter whether I die now at the hands of a demon collecting souls or at the hands of mother nature or some murderer?

"You're kind of quiet now. Is everything okay?" she asks, with a worried look in her face.

"Do you believe in fairytale creatures?" I ask, instead of answering her question. "Creatures like vampires, demons, and angels?"

She chuckles. "Of course I do. I'm a mermaid."

My eyes widen and I back away from her and further from the bed. However, she doesn't move towards me or away from me. She just stays calmly in her seat not caring about my reaction at all. She just said that so openly and freely! Are they even allowed to do that? "Are you allowed to tell me that? You know that I'm human right?" I remind her. At this point, I'm just going to believe her with no doubt. After what I've seen and been through, it's more likely that everyone I know is a mythical creature rather than a normal human being like me.

"I'm allowed to tell a human that's mated to a non-human," she answers, before pulling her legs towards her body. "Look Josephine, you're a really sweet girl and I understand why you're scared. I'm not going to move or do anything. I'll simply sit here and answer any questions that you might have."

"Did he send you?" I ask, voicing the first thought in my mind. Of course he did. I should have known that it would only be a matter of time before he found me. What if he's known where I was this whole time and just watched me suffer in the cold while waiting for the best time to attack?

"Yes he did," she answers. "He sent me to watch over someone he deeply cares about to make sure that she gets proper attire for this weather because he noticed that you didn't take any heavy jackets or coats or boots."

I bite my lip while mulling her words over. Rhazien sent her here because he wanted to make sure that I was okay? Not because he didn't like that a victim got away from him? I clear my throat. "Where is he now?"
