I left the bathroom gathering and composing the rest of the woman that I still had left in me.
I needed to be stronger than this but I knew that wasn't going to be easy working so close to him daily. Maybe I was just going to have to get a new job somewhere else maybe try and find somewhere else that can hire me and be professional with me, but it was mid-October and I didn't know anywhere else that was hiring so close to the end of the year.
I was just going to have to tough it out and make do with the choice I decided to make.
I walked out of the bathroom fixing my makeup and wiping my eyes. The only thing I have right now is my looks might as well keep those up if it's going to be the only thing I have left.
This was going to be the hardest thing I have done in my life. With everything happening right now I keep thinking to myself keep my cool, I'm sure I made my point to him that I didn't want to speak on that matter.
I hope that was enough to get him to back off, but that was unlikely since I'm in the worse position right now. He's my boss, he can call me into his office and force me to listen to him at any given moment. I was on the lower playing field.
He has the upper hand in this situation and I was yet again, stuck feeling like a tiny pawn in his game.
Walking back to my office felt longer than when I walked to the bathroom from his office. But I paused when I realized I'd have to pass his office again to get back to mine.
The cherry on the sundae was that he was outside talking to someone. He turned his head in my direction letting his eyes soak me in. I could feel my cheeks burn with excitement, even though I was nervous.
The red on my cheeks were probably so bright you could see them from miles away.
He turned back to his client and I took that as my chance to walk pass seemingly normal. I took quick strides until I got near him and my suddenly bold walk turned into something strange.
It didn't stop my process or movement, but when I heard my name being called, that did.
I turned around and looking into his eyes, they were screaming for acceptance. I wasn't about to give it to him, "Please wait in my office for me".
I knew I couldn't disrespect him, especially in front of a client, so I obeyed and peaked my body through the opening of the door.
Making my way to one of his chairs that are made for clients I decided I wasn't about to sit, I just stood and waited for, him inside his lonely office.
Once he made his presence known I didn't even want to initiate talking if he had something to say he was just going to have to tell me.
That was going to be the first step in these boundaries that I was going to have to make do with.
He came closer and closer to my position until I was backed into a wall. That didn't stop him from getting any closer, you'd think he'd know how to keep his distance since he has a wife.
"What do you need sir". I was so nervous you could hear it in the way my voice cracked.
"We have an October bash that I need someone to plan, and you are the assistant. So I need you to plan it". He was so demanding but I guess that's the way you get when you have hired help, you don't really care about what they feel.
"Yes, sir".
"My house, tonight, to discuss the details". That was the one place I never want to go again. Not ever.
