I had to lead Bakari by the arm, into the party room which was filling up with people by the second. I spotted a brown skin man on the other side of the room and I knew it was Lucas, I took off away from Bakari and towards Lucas and I crashed into him.
"Lucas". I smiled
"Olivia, Hey". He grabbed on to me because I was slipping.
"You.. you're a pirate". I chuckled a little
"Practical, you said you were something simple? This doesn't look simple".
"Well, I just found this in my unpacked suitcase and decided to go with this". I added a nervous laugh hoping he would just believe my lie.
"Mmh". He didn't seem to fully believe but he didn't pry any further
"So what are you waiting for, dance with me". I smiled pulling him out on to the dance floor and grooving to the beat of the song. He wasn't a terrible dancer he was good, he moved flawlessly on the dance floor. Nobody could keep their eyes off him and I was one of the ones watching. He was dancing as if nobody was watching, he might as well be alone.
I decided to join him coordinating with his dance. A slow song started playing and we continued to dance like nobody was watching. He grabbed my hands and we started to waltz around the room. Eventually, all eyes were on us, the crowd backed away leaving the entire dance floor for Lucas and I to tango upon.
He led me and I followed his commands, I smiled and watched his facial expressions.
"I didn't know you dance". He smiled acquiring a newly learned piece about me.
"You don't know a lot". I was being mysterious and I liked it. Keeping people on their toes about me, nobody will ever know me fully. That's what keeps me interesting, I'm unordinary, and I'm full of surprises. The only person I can say that will eventually know all of me is the one who can stand me the longest.
We kept the dance up, I was on the edge of my toes. We stopped and paused and I kicked my leg around his one leg and quickly moved it back to an original stance. He turned our bodies around and I used my left leg to wrap it around his torso, and the right leg kicked up, I raised it high into the air, the people clapping when my heel made it over Lucas's head. I dropped my right leg elegantly, and also my left leg followed soon.
We danced until the ending of the song and the final move was a spin that I was hoping Lucas would catch me. So I took a deep breath and started spinning until Lucas caught me, my face inches away from his. We both were breathing heavily while listening to the thick clapping of the crowd.
The song changed and everyone took that as their chance to rejoin us on the dance floor. Lucas and I had to take a break and relax on the sidelines after giving these people the show of their lives.
"You are an amazing dancer Olivia". He breathed out while taking a sip of his water.
"Thanks, I mean I dabble sometimes".
"No, you must have taken some lessons for that". He shared a laugh with me.
"No, self-taught. All those moves came from movies and T.V shows". I looked at him and his mouth a ajar like he was drop-dead shocked. I couldn't blame him, I couldn't believe I just did that myself. Everything was just a dancing blur right now, and I honestly didn't know what I did I was just letting the beat control me.
"You did amazing, you both dance phenomenally". Someone walked up to me and spoke, he was an older looking gentleman.
"Thank you, sir".
"And your a polite little thing, do you work here?". He questioned and I didn't know if I should spill but he wasn't asking questions that were too personal.
