Jennie's P.O.V.
"Jisoo, can I sleep at your house this weekend?" I asked her. "My parents will be gone. They had an emergency in Japan, and I have no keys to get into my house."
"Well that sucks", she sighed. "I guess you can come to my house, but by tomorrow morning - my family has to have dinner with Mino's family this evening. Ugh, I'm so done with having such family dinners! It's so awkward for Mino and I, we just sit there dressed elegantly and listen to our parents talking and making idiotic jokes. We sometimes give each other short looks and try to communicate using our eyes and eyebrows so we can find a plan to get out of there, but it never really works. They then start talking to us too, which means there is literally no escape. I feel so dead inside."
"It'll be fine", I said, and laughed at how desperate Jisoo was about having dinner with Mino and his family. "I guess we'll meet at your house tomorrow morning then. Don't forget to text me so I know when to come! I guess I'll find someone to sleep at their house this night, maybe...I don't know...Irene, or Tzuyu, or Lisa. Even Yeri is acceptable at this point, to be honest!"
"Aight", Jisoo approved, laughing along. "I'll text you tomorrow morning. Bye!"
She smiled and left the hallway, holding her backpack and scrolling through her phone, not looking back for one spare second. I sighed and decided to ask everyone else if I could sleep at their houses.
"Irene unnie!" I exclaimed as I saw Irene opening her locker. "Can I sleep at your house today? Family emergency and I can't get home. Long story."
"I wish I could", she sighed. "But I've been going to sleep insanely late this past week, and I really have to rest well so I can survive daily life, you know. Sorry, Jen."
She gave me a pat on my shoulder, threw her backpack on her shoulder, waved at me, and left quickly, her hanging backpack still visible for a few other moments.
"Fuck!" I whispered to myself as I dragged the entire weight of my body towards Tzuyu's locker.
"Tzuyu, can I sleep at your house tonight?" I asked, not even having the same energy anymore. "It's...a...family emergency...and I can't...go home..."
"I'm sorry, Jennie, I can't. I've already planned a sleepover with Seulgi tonight. We can meet tomorrow night, though! Or we can all go watch a movie at the cinema tomorrow, I don't know. We can invite Seulgi, Jisoo, Lisa...whoever you want."
"Alright", I said, and sighed deeply without intending to. "I agree with the cinema part, but I'm sleeping at Jisoo's house tonight, so I can't sleep at yours. I guess nothing, then."
"Okay, I'll call you!" she exclaimed excitedly, as if she hadn't even heard me. "See you!"
She ran out of the hallway with her backpack hanging as she looked around for Seulgi. I sighed and rubbed my face with my right palm. I was probably not finding a place to sleep, and sleeping at school in a sleeping bag. Unpleasant and embarrassing, but probably going to come true.
"Hey!" Momo approached me with a wide smile on her face. "You wanna go chill in Dongdaemun with us this night?"
Ahh...Friday nights in Dongdaemun District were any teen's favorite thing in the world. It was a night where you could walk around and chill with your friends, discuss, have a drink, play sports, and even meet new people in your school that you barely knew existed before. People in my school also called it "Social District", because it was where we all loved hanging out most. I also loved being there; I loved going to Jisoo's house after school solely so we could meet other people around Dongdaemun district. Mostly there was Sana and Momo, or Tzuyu and Seulgi, or the boys in the varsity basketball team, including Yoongi; they liked to practice on the court in Dongdaemun district, especially at night.
"Almost all of us are gonna be there", Momo insisted when she saw that I was just staring at the wall in front of me and not saying anything. "Of course, some are busy, but the rest will be spending the night in Dongdaemun. You really should go with us."
"Alright", I said, and smiled almost as widely as she did. "I love Friday nights in Dongdaemun, so there's no reason I would say no."
"Great!" she exclaimed. She jumped in the air excitedly and hugged me tight. Hugs with her were always awkward for some reason, but I just let it pass since no one was looking.
As we headed to Dongdaemun carrying our heavy backpacks and not talking almost at all, I felt a feeling of emptiness in my stomach. I didn't know why, but I was just extremely nervous about spending this night somewhere where there was also going to be...well, you know...Yoongi. Even if there was a big chance that he liked me back, it was very awkward between us lately. Ever since we had kissed on Halloween night in the haunted house, we didn't talk face to face, nor did we text or call. We straight up didn't know what we were. We didn't know if we were gonna have a big fight and lose our feelings for each other, or somehow end up having feelings for someone else and forget each other (which for me didn't work after we broke up, but it was debatable on his side), like each other forever but never talk again, or get together. We didn't know our future, not at all, but we might've ended up together.
After a long moment of thought, Momo broke the silence.
"I think you and Yoongi are meant to be together. Even if he liked Sana for quite a while...that was just a crush. He has love for only one person, and that person is you. No matter how many very pretty girls he has a crush on over time, he will always come back to you. And I know you feel the same towards him. Hear my word, Jennie. You are unique to him."
Momo was right.
I was unique to him, and that's what I was meant to be.
He was unique to me, too.
