Aiden and Cora met at the middle school, hopefully undected by Myzela or Keith. Cora though wouldn't put it past them to hire someone to spy on her while finding the stone. She made sure they were out of sight and alone before speaking.

"Thank you for meeting with me, Aiden. I know this is all so strange, but true."

Aiden smiled at her. "Yeah, no problem." He felt awkward being with Sera's grandmother. "Can you tell me how Sera is alive?" He blurted out.

Cora nodded. "Of course I'll tell you. Let me start out by saying this particular Grimmstone has been in my family for hundereds of years. I've seen the effects of what bringing a loved one back can do." She said and sat down. School was in session, but no one would bother them out here.

Aiden looked at her curiously. "There are other Grimmstone's out there?"

Cora sighed sadly, "Yes, two other's exist in the world. They all need to be destroyed. Bringing the dead back is something the living should not do. How she came back? A wish a wish so deep and strong. A wish that truly longed for her and loved her gave back her breath of life."

Aiden felt the sudden shock flow through him. "It was me." He told Cora in a sort of whisper. "I was wearing it late one night and I wished and prayed for her to come back to me."

Cora looked like she was about to cry. "You need to tell her how you feel before you destroy the stone."

"Why me? Does it have to be me?" Aiden said getting upset.

"No, I can do it if I have to." Cora said to him and touched his shoulder. "I hate it too. She is my grandchild after all. Myzela and Keith want to bring her back for good. That means that she'd have to feed every week. I don't think the hunger has struck her yet."

"Huh?" Aiden looked at her strangely. "What like a zombie?"

A laugh came from the older woman. "Brains are not involved, thankfully. Lips though are involved. With this particular stone a kiss has to be taken, stolen really. It takes in the soul. It eventually kills the person." She paused and locked her eyes with his. "Molly Burke is back because of her mother wishing on the stone. It had been lost, but the little girl found it. Then she passed in an accident. Her mother had no idea about the stone's powers. She doesn't know that Molly doesn't have much time left because she doesn't know how to survive."

"Molly would have to go around kissing random people on the mouth, right?" Aiden felt weird saying this.

"Exactly. It's a strange thing my relatives came up with, but it is what it is. And Molly will expire within the next week or two." Cora told him and stood up. "Please do not say a word to the Burke's."

46

"Promise." Aiden got up too. "Wait, what about Sera?"

Cora thought for a moment. "I think she has a week or two before she needs to feed. Aiden, she needs to go back as soon as possible. It's the best thing to do. I'll set up something with her soon. I need to hurry to the grocery store and get back before Quintin starts questioning me."

"Nice talking to you, Miss Cora. Thank you for filling me in." Aiden said as they walked together to their cars.

"Now go tell Sera and the cop. Stay safe and be cautious. Remember don't trust anyone other than me, Sera and the police lady."

Aiden left first and headed back to Mrs. Reylen's house.

Cora headed to the grocery store to hurry and get what she needed.

Aiden had called Angelle and told her to meet them at the house. She hurried over to hear what Aiden had to tell them. He went through all of what he could recall best and hoped it was enough.

Sera sat sadly at the dining table. Hot angry tears fell down her pale cheeks and dripped into her lap. She was taking all of this rather well considering what was to come. She had to die again and she was deeply scared, but didn't want to show it.

47

"Can I tell William?" Sera asked to whomever was listening.

"No!" Aiden snapped. "It's not a good idea. It's dangerous to tell anyone outside of this circle."

Sera snapped back at him. "Do you have any clue how hard it is not to talk to my parents? I wanna see them before I have to leave again." Her tears came out rapidly as she yelled.

Reylen shook her head. "Sera, you can't do that. They'll do what they can to keep you alive as a prisoner in your own home."

"Please let me see them." Sera begged her.

Reylen's gut kept saying to not give in. "Under my rules only. It has to be at the station in the interrogation room. They'll be cuffed to the table for safety."

"I'll be there too." Aiden said.

"Bad idea." Reylen flat out told him. "I don't want you anywhere near the station. If they see you then they'll know you've been spying for the cops."

Aiden knew she was right.

48

Sera walked over to him. "There's something I need to tell you." She looked at Angelle and Mrs. Reylen. "I recently found out that when I passed the first time that I was pregnant."

Sera heard Angelle gasp in shock as she watched Aiden's reaction. His face showed shock as well before wrinkiling into a pain he never knew he could feel. He felt himself cry and he sank to the floor. Sera cried with him. They leaned on each other until he pulled away.

He couldn't be close to her. His lips only wanted to kiss her badly. Kissing her meant his death.

"I'm sorry." He said and took her hand. "I wish we could've had our family."

Sera smiled a little. She began to lean in, but he scooted away. "What's wrong?"  Then she remembered the Grimmstone curse. "This damn rock I swear . . ."

"At least we have this time together. I'm sorry it's not forever." Aiden got to his feet and help her up too.

Sera turned to Jen. "I'm ready to talk to my parents when I can."

"Okay. I'll get them to come to the station in the morning." Jen said and hugged her. "I'm so sorry about all of this, Sera."

49

Myzela and Keith sat in the interrogation room - annoyed. They had been asked to come to the station, but hadn't known why.

"Might have to call our lawyer." Myzela said as she tapped her nails on the metal desk top.

Keith gritted his teeth. "Say nothing, I'll do all the talking."

The door opened and Officer Reylen entered the room. "Hey. I have someone that would like to speak with you."

Keith said, "If it's just to talk to someone then why are we cuffed to the desk?"

Sera stunned them by walking into the room. "Mom, dad, how are you?"

"My baby!" Myzela cried out. "Uncuff me! Now!" She shouted at Reylen.

Reylen shook her head - NO.

"I know about the Grimmstone." Sera told them.
