In Plain Sight [BTS THRILLER]

Chapter 5

It's 2 A.M and everybody in the apartment is sleeping soundly. Needing to use the bathroom, Namjoon wakes up and groggily looks around the room. He peeks down to the bunk below him and sees Jin fast asleep. Carefully, Namjoon climbs down the ladder and does his best to tiptoe out of the room so that he doesn't wake Jin up.

Successfully making it out of the bedroom, he quietly walks to the bathroom. On his way there, he notices Jimin sitting in the living room with Jungkook sleeping on his shoulder. The both of them are surrounded by small stacks of books.

"Hey," Namjoon calls to Jimin in a whisper, "what are you doing up so late?"

Jimin looks up to Namjoon, a little startled. "Oh... I'm sorry, Namjoon hyung. Did we wake you?"

"No, no. You didn't. Don't worry."

"Jungkook and I were just studying." Jimin marks his place in his notebook and closes it. "We have a big test tomorrow and we just wanted to make sure we reviewed the material thoroughly."

"Ah." Namjoon pauses, trying to think of what to say. "Well, good luck. Make sure you get, at least, some rest."

"Yes, hyung. I'll go to bed now." Jimin says as he begins packing his stuff up. Satisfied, Namjoon continues to the bathroom.

The next morning, Hoseok sleeps in and wakes up to find himself alone in the apartment. He goes into the kitchen to get a glass of water. On the fridge is a note from Namjoon. Taking the note off of the fridge, he reads it aloud.

"Hoseok, Jungkook has to stay late to take a test today. Can you help Jin and me walk his coworker home?Thanks."

Hoseok puts the note down and continues to make himself breakfast.

At lunch, Jimin and Jungkook are sitting together, testing each other on the material that they need to know for class. Both of the boys are so focused on their books, that they barely notice Lucy walk over to their table. Eventually, Jimin looks up and greets her. "Hi, Lucy." Lucy says nothing. Instead, she takes out her phone and shows Jimin the texts that she's been getting. Confused, Jimin reads the text thread and looks back up at Lucy. "I don't understand... Who's been sending you these?"

"It's not funny, you guys. These started coming in the same day that I met you. No one else in school has my number." Lucy says angrily.

"I swear... it wasn't us." Jungkook doesn't dare to look at Lucy this whole time, even though he has noticed that she's sitting with them. Lucy glares at Jungkook.

"If it was you, then just stop it, okay? I can tell that you have a crush on me, but this is just too much." Jungkook remains silent, afraid to answer.

"Jungkook, it wasn't you, was it?" Jungkook quickly shakes his head while staring down at a book in his lap.

Jungkook mumbles something to Jimin. "Hyung... what do the messages say?"

Jimin reads the thread. "They say things like 'I love you' and 'Do you love me?' and 'I saw you today. You were really pretty.'" Jimin pauses as he scrolls through the messages. "Look at this one." He shows the phone to Jungkook.

Jungkook reads it aloud. "'I'm too shy to talk to you, but I want to meet you later.'" Jungkook then pauses for a moment, looking at Lucy; very embarrassed. "It wasn't me, I swear." He takes out his phone and shows Lucy that he hasn't texted her once. Jimin does the same. Satisfied, Lucy returns their phones to them before apologizing.

"I'm sorry..."

"It's okay. We aren't mad." Jimin says with a big smile. Jungkook goes back to staring at his lap, nervously studying. Just then, Lucy gets another text message. She opens the thread to read it. "What did they say?"

Lucy goes silent after reading the text.

"Well, are you going to go?" Jimin asks.

"I don't know. I'll have to think about it." Just then, the bell rings signalling that it's time for class.

"We should get going. Let us know if you end up meeting the person, okay?" Lucy nods and goes off on her own way.

Hoseok meets Jin after work to help walk Sarah home. He sees Jin standing next to Sarah and Namjoon, waiting for him. Realizing he's late, Hoseok jogs up to the others. "I'm sorry, guys. Have you been waiting long?"

"No. I just got here a couple of minutes ago, myself." Namjoon replies, warmly.

"Oh!" Jin exclaims suddenly, "let me introduce you guys!" Jin gently places his hand on Sarah's back, encouraging her to move forward. "Hoseok, this is Sarah. Sarah, this is Hoseok."

"Is he another one of your roommates?" Jin nods. Sarah holds her hand out to shake Hoseok's. "It's nice to meet you." Hoseok politely shakes Sarah's hand.

The four friends begin walking toward Sarah's house. Sarah seems a lot more relaxed and Jin and Hoseok are busy making dad jokes during the entire trip. Namjoon and Sarah are walking along and laughing at everything. Before they know it, they have all arrived at Sarah's house.

Sarah turns to Hoseok, Jin, and Namjoon before walking into her house. "Thank you for walking me home, guys. I really appreciate it."

"No problem!"Jin exclaims. He waves before turning to leave. Both Namjoon and Hoseok wave and follow their roommate home.
