In Plain Sight [BTS THRILLER]

Chapter 6

Jimin and Jungkook are both fast asleep; happy to have their big test over with. Around 9 A.M, Jimin's phone alarm goes off. The tune of 'Serendipity' sounds at a pleasant volume and fills the room. Jungkook is able to ignore the alarm, but Jimin wakes up. His eyes flutter open. Once he realizes that there's no school today, he jumps out of bed and excitedly runs into the kitchen.

After checking the cabinets and finding the cat food, Jimin goes to outside to look for his little cat friend. He shakes the bag and then waits for his pet. After a few seconds, there is no sign of the cat. Jimin shakes the bag again in case the cat either didn't hear the sound of the food or he was just taking a little longer to run up to the door and greet his new owner. When there is still no response, Jimin begins to worry.

Jin walks out of his room and notices Jimin's shoes are gone. He opens the door to check outside. There, he finds Jimin looking for the cat. "What's going on?" Jin asks. Jimin turns to his roommate.

"I don't see Podo..." Jimin answers with a very worried look on his face.

"Podo?"

"The cat. I named him Podo."

"Ah."

"I'm going to go and look around the neighborhood for him."

"Okay then. Be careful." With that, Jin closes the door. Jimin begins to walk around the area surrounding the house, calling for his cat friend, Podo.

"Podo...," Jimin calls out sadly, "Podo..., where are you?" He looks around frantically, but cannot seem to find his cat.

After about a half hour, there is still no sign of Podo. Jimin grows extremely discouraged and is just about ready to give up. Suddenly, as he is walking by a park, he notices something white sticking out of a bush. He walks closer to the suspicious, white mass. After a few seconds, he recognizes it as Podo's tail. Excited to have finally found his beloved cat, Jimin runs into the park and over to the bush.

Jimin squats next to the bush and pokes at Podo's tail. "Podo, you bad kitty. You ate somewhere else and fell asleep, didn't you?" Podo gives no response. "Podo?" Jimin pokes the cat's tail again, but there is still no response from the cat. Very worried now, Jimin proceeds to move some of the leaves aside. Terrified at the sight of what's underneath, Jimin covers his mouth and falls backward onto his bottom. His eyes begin to tear up, but he forces himself to scoop up Podo. His once energetic cat friend was now a lifeless mass in his arms. Crying, Jimin sits for a while to grieve.

Once home, Jimin no longer has the bag of cat food. He opens the door to his residence to be greeted by Jungkook, Jin, and Taehyung. Jin notices him walk in without Podo. "What happened to Podo? Did you find him?" asks Jin. Jimin gives no response. He simply shakes his head and walks over to the couch. Instead of sitting down, he decides to lay on the floor, face down, and turns his head to the side. A few seconds pass and he doesn't move. Taehyung, Jin, and Jungkook are all staring at him, confused by his actions. The three men look at each other before Taehyung breaks the silence.

"Jimin, are you okay?" Taehyung slowly walks over and sits on the floor next to Jimin.

"No...," replies Jimin, obviously holding back tears. "Podo died..." Surprised to hear this, everyone is still. No one knows what to say,or do, to comfort their friend. "Someone killed him... His neck was slit and his eyes were scooped out."

Jin covers his mouth. "Oh my god..."

"I'm sorry, Chimmy." Taehyung tries to comfort Jimin by patting his back. Jimin starts to bawl. He gets up off of the floor and retreats to his room. The three roommates watch in shock, still not knowing what to do for their friend.

By the time Yoongi comes home that evening, Jimin is feeling well enough to talk a bit and has decided to come back outside to try and socialize as a distraction. On his way outside, Jungkook catches Yoongi right before he steps inside. He pulls Yoongi aside and tells him what happened, letting him know that it'd be a smart choice to avoid the topic. Yoongi nods, signaling that he understands and proceeds to go inside of the house.

Yoongi walks over to Jimin. "Hey, Jimin. Do you know where Jungkook is going?"

Jimin looks over to Yoongi with slightly swollen eyes from all of the crying. "Yeah...a classmate wanted to meet up with him."

"Ah... I see." Yoongi replies in his usual sleepy tone.

Jungkook is walking briskly to a mall to meet up with a classmate. When he arrives, he notices Sam, someone that he recognizes from class. He runs up to Sam, who is sipping a drink. "Hey, Sam! What did you want to meet me for?"

"Hi, Jungkook. You must have dropped this on your way home from school yesterday." Sam hands Jungkook a notebook. Jungkook excitedly takes the book that his friend is handing over to him.

"Oh my god. I've actually been looking all over for it. I bumped into someone yesterday. It must have fallen out of my bag and I just didn't notice." Jungkook flips through the book and puts it in his bag. "Thanks, man." He turns to leave before Sam stops him.

"Hey. Wait up. I was just about to leave, myself." The two begin walking together. "Oh, hey!" Sam reaches into his pocket. "I know that you like these, so I got you one." Sam pulls a candy bar out of his pocket.

"Thanks, man." Jungkook takes the bar and unwraps it before taking a bite. Before the two are out of the mall, Jungkook is already done with the candy bar. As the two approach the corner, Sam waves to to Jungkook as he turns to continue walking; leaving Jungkook waiting for the light. Jungkook waves back to Sam. Before too long, the light changes and Jungkook crosses the street.

Jungkook is almost home, when he begins to feel sort of woozy. Passing through the park, he sits down at a bench to wait and see if he feels any better. A few seconds go by without him feeling any better. His eyes begin to close very slowly; him slowly nodding off. He snaps out of his trance for a very brief moment and opens his eyes to find a man standing in front of him. The man is wearing all black and is concealing his face. Jungkook tries to get up to do something about his current situation, but it's no use. He has no energy to stay awake, let alone move.

The man standing before him leans forward, lifting his hand toward Jungkook's face. "Shhhh," the man whispers, "Be a good boy and just fall asleep for me. Okay?" Jungkook can't recognize the man's voice. It didn't even sound human to him. He tries his hardest to move and fight back, but it's no use. The man pins Jungkook down and strokes the side of Jungkook's face. Jungkook weakly shakes his head in protest. "It's okay. Just accept it."

"No...Stop it, you creep..." Jungkook mumbles weakly.

The man simply ignores Jungkook. Soon enough, Jungkook falls unconscious and goes limp. The man manages to get Jungkook onto his back and carries him off.
