Chapter 15: Cry then fly

After a few seconds, I rub the pad of my finger on the ring and the ripple effects show again before the projection dissapears.
"This will definitely be useful. Thank you." I mumble to myself before nodding and walking out of the shop, the little bell chiming, indicating someone had left...

I wish the ground would just swallow him up! I continuously catch him staring at me but I ignore, following behind him, watching out for swords and other dangerous weapons that was planted in the floor.
"Just through here and we've almost made it out." Haden informs and I nod, a little hum added too.
"C'mon Adeline we've been walking for two hours now and you haven't said a word. I'm sorry. What more do you want me to say?" He asks annoyed and I shake my head, clenching my fists and walking onwards.
"Adeline tell me!" He yells and I stop, turning furiously and storming towards him.
"You left me! We're in a Kingdom where people are out to hurt me... badly and you have one mood swing and storm off. The next time I see you is because your hand is bandaged and you have a black eye. I didn't get an explanation for that either Haden. You shut me out and we're supposed to be a team, but, I guess your too prideful and full of yourself to even stop and care for the people around you!" I yell angrily, letting the furiosity that had clouded my heart out.
He lowers his head and I nod, walking a few steps before stopping.
"And that's what I thought." I say sadly before continuing on, him catching up and leading on.

We enter through a dark cave, Haden's light leading the way. I let the tears fall now whilst he cant see me. A little sob escapes and I clamp my hand around my mouth. Haden stops and looks back, flickering a flame near my face only to see me crying. I take deep breaths, leaning against the cold, stone walls of the cave, lowering to sit.
"I just wanna go home. I miss my mum so much and I-I cant do this. I'm not strong enough." I cry, dropping my head into my hands.

Haden sits next to me and I sob into his chest as he hugs me.
"I care about you sweetheart, a lot actually. I'm so sorry I left you, your right it was so selfish of me and I put your life at risk but your wrong about you not being strong. Your the strongest person I know. We will get this mission done, I know it." Haden whispers and a small smile graces my lips as I look up at him.
"I forgive you Haden. Thank you." I smile and he mirrors it, then, starts leaning in. I lean in too and our lips are just about to meet when I hear a spine curdling voice say:
"Adeline." I shoot up, my breathing heavy.
"Lets go now!" Haden whisper/ yells, grabbing my hand as we both sprint out of that cave.

The voice repeats in my head over and over again until I'm brought back to reality with Haden grabbing me tightly.
"What?" I ask confused, before following his gaze.
My eyes widen and my mouth drops open as I see the massive hole between the end of this cave and a new path with gates in the further distance.
"I dont understand, there used to be a bridge here." Haden says, a hint of anger but confusion in his voice.
"We'll jump it. Its duable." I say without fully thinking.
"What? We could die! You could die!" Haden shakes his head disagareeingly and I grab his shoulders.
"It's this or get caught by whatever that thing is back there." I say and he bite his lips in deep thought.
"Serpolls- a mix between a Serpent and a Troll. Creepy looking things that I'd rather not die by." Haden explains and I nod.
"Then lets do it." I say, taking a few steps back. I grin, determination coursing through my veins.
"I dont know about this." And just as Haden says that I yell:
"GO!" And we both sprint to the near end of the cliff befofe we both jump, our bodies flying through the air.

We land awkwardly, rolling a few times until we're lying flat on our backs.
"Told you we'd make it." I say and he laughs as we both get up, dusting ourselves off.
"Welcome to Ardour. Kingdom of lust." Haden says smirking and I roll my eyes.

"Just bloody great!"
