Chapter 32: Cries from the Lost

Alerted, my eyes widen and I push myself onto the side, standing up and quickly putting on my clothes. Haden followes my actions before coming up behind me and wrapping his arms around me. I feel my heart beat slowly decrease as I melt into his hold.
"Its probably just an animal." Haden whispers and I shake my head, staring deep into the woodland. There's something more...something beyond an animal.
"I dont know Haden, we are in the Kingdom of Jealously." I say skeptically, my eyes averting to every open area.
"You're not wrong. We should get going." Haden agrees, grabbing my backpack and lacing our fingers together. We tread further, our heavy, quick footsteps crushing the leaves below.

All of a sudden, I hear a sob. It turns into more cries until I hear (quite clearly)waling and pleas for help. Without hesitation, I run to the place and see the back of a small girl with golden hair, curled cutely.
"Um, h-hi there." I say softly, watching as the girl jumps before slowly turning around. Her vibrant and gorgeous yellow eyes meet my hazel ones. They're red and puffy and I see newly formed tears dripping down her rosy cheeks.
"Can I help?" I ask, carefully approaching her.

She seems scared, which is understandable, but lets her guard down as I take a seat and give her a warm smile, Haden standing beside me.
"I'm Adeline Spring, what's your name?" I ask and she sniffles, weakly grinning at me.
"I-I'm Oriana Hale." She says and I shake her hand.
"That's a beautiful name. So, if you dont mind me asking, why are you crying?" I question and I watch as her eyes turn glossy again.
"I-I've lost my way.  My mum and brother decided it would be better for us to live here and so I started to explore. By the time I'd realised I'd gone way too far, it was too late." Oraine explains and my heart swells with sympathy from the story. "We can help you." I say confidently and her grin widens as she dives into my arms.
"Thank you so, so much!" She squeals and I laugh, standing and turning to Haden, who had been oddly quiet.
"Lets go shall we?" I smile and the girl links arms with me, skipping joyfully.

I turn back to Haden and he shrugs, standing beside me and looking down at the girl who looks back at him.
"Are you two...dating?" The inquisitive girl questions and my cheeks heat up.
"Yes. Yes we are." Haden confirms, winking at me and I grow even more red, a small smile gracing my lips.
"Well sir you have a really pretty girlfriend." The girl says, grinning up at me before turning back to Haden.
"I know."

Chapter 32 and they've met a little supirse. The ending was so cute! Aaaand... Haden confimed they're dating 😍!!!
