Chapter 10: Light at the end of the tunnel

Previously:

"Who were they?" I ask, taking small steps next to Haden.
"There Queen Acacias' guards, better known as Oleles."

"Sweetheart c'mon. We have to go." Haden sighs, dragging on my arm before stepping back.
"Leave me. There's no hope." I say breathlessly.
"We've only been walking half an hour." I almost gasp at the revalation.
"Haden that's half an hour too long for me. I lounge about all the time and spend hours sitting. I paint, not excersise." I pant, leaning back to rest on my elbows.

The dirt from the tunnel has already covered the back of my jeans as I've been stubbornly and selfishly sitting here for quite a while but I cannot keep up with Hadens pace of walking. It's too much for me!

I cant even walk for half an hour, I dont know how they expect me to banish supernatural Queens to hell.
"Adeline! If you dont start walking now, I'm carrying your dirt covered ass." Haden sasses, storming closer to me. His arms are folded over his chest and he's heaving heavily whilst glaring at me.
"I can't Haden, you dont understand." I whine, throwing my head back tiredly.
"Fine then." I watch with wide eyes as he bends down and touches my waist to pick me up. I scramble up and jog a little to create distance.
"I'm up, I'm up." I gasp and he chuckles.
"Yeah but your not moving fast enough." I roll my eyes before Haden starts sprinting towards me. I shriek and begin running down the tunnel, our laughter echoing. I dont dare look back but I can hear him close behind.

I see light, to which I assume its the sun beaming down, guiding me to my exit. I speed up and just as I'm about to go through the escape, Haden tackles me to the ground and we roll out into the open.
"Haden!" I laugh/ yell as he lands on his back, holding me tightly.
"See sweetheart, you can do excersise." He jokes and I hit his chest, staring down at him as I lay atop of him.
"Yeah." I mumble, now noticing how his eyes are more than just red. They seem to sparkle and flow like blood. They hold so much mystery yet passion. I know I've been staring for far too long yet he seems to be mirroring my actions, trying to search past my exterior.
"W-we should get going. Still got six Kingdoms to explore." I gulp, shuffling off his chest and helping him up.
"Well sweetheart, we're already here. Welcome to Avarice, Kingdon of Greed."

Short-ish Chapter but I liked how it ended.

Ooh whats happening between Haden and Adeline?

They're now in the 2nd Kingdom, Avarice, run by Queen of Greed- Orabella. Lets see how this plays out.
