I enter his room in a frenzy.
Five or so doctors in the same suit crowd around him.
I mow my way through them. Through all the tubing, trays and needles.
The tears spring forward the moment I see him.
Black veins, shut eyes.
My legs give way. Desperately, I crawl towards him, unwilling to accept reality.
"Jasper?" A trembling whisper echoes the still room.
I take his palm into my trembling one. I press it against my face, like how he would. I cradle his hand in mine, afraid that if I let go, he'll crumble out of existence.
The doctors begin to mumble incessantly.
"Get out," I growl. "GET THE FUCK OUT!"
They all scramble out, leaving me alone with my crumbling world.
I bring his cold hand to my lips, holding it as tightly as I can.
But no matter how tightly I hold, I can't change facts.
Jasper's gone.
