After Maryann told John her story he was quiet, too quiet. Did Maryann just loose one of her friends because she told him the truth, she really hoped not.
‘Let me get this straight, you’re from Germany,’ John said
‘Yes,’ Maryann said
‘And your mum was controlling and your dad didn’t know you were there.’
‘Pretty much,’
‘But you’re mum called you names and wanted you to become a doctor and you cut,’ John said
‘Yes,’ Maryann said, not knowing that she just told him one of her secrets that she didn’t want to tell him.
‘And you’re going to stop that.’
‘Stop what?’ Maryann asked
‘The cutting,’ John said
‘You- you tricked me,’
‘It was a needed evil,’ John shrugged
‘You’re mean,’ Maryann whined
‘Mary, I needed to know.’
‘But why?’
‘Because that’s what friends are for.’
