"France is following us to revolution!" I say, getting into my house.
Jessie gets away from my way, continuing to clean. She's a bit younger than me but who cares...
"There is no more status quo," I say.
I mean my husband is long gone and all that so Jessie isn't exactly cheating.
"But the sun comes out," Jessie says.
"And the world still spins!" I say.
Jessie nods and continues. It wouldn't be really legal but she's my slave so it's legal that way.
"I helped Bebe draft a declaration, then I said 'I gotta go, I gotta be in Monticello.' Now... the work at home begins," I say.
Jessie nods, continuing her cleaning.
"So what did I miss?" I ask.
"Nothing really, ma'am! The war but-," she says.
"What'd I miss?" I ask.
"It may have been more over in France," she says.
I pet her head.
"Virginia!" I say.
She's holding onto the broom as I blow a kiss at the place.
"My home, sweet home! I wanna give you a kiss," I say.
Jessie continues cleaning.
"I've been in Paris meeting lots of different people!" I say.
I smile at her.
"I guess I basically missed the late eighties!" I say.
"You did but that-," Jessie says.
"I traveled the wide wide world," I say.
I grab her.
"And came back to this," I say.
She looks utterly terrified.
