(Alexis' POV)

There used to be a lot of rumors going around that wolves weren't affected by alcohol as easily as humans. That's bullshit. Why wouldn't they be? Apart from the fact that we have advanced senses and can turn into four legged, furry animals, we wolves aren't much different to humans.

I mean, wouldn't a human be drunk after drinking half a bottle of vodka? Yeah. So would a wolf. Just like I am now.

Can you blame me for turning to alcohol after the day I've had? Anyone would have done the exact same thing. It was only after the final revelation that I snapped.

Two Hours Earlier

"Alexis, will you calm down," Dad pleads with me.

"Calm down?" I screech, whirling around to face him. "No, I will not calm down! How the hell do you expect me to that?"

Alpha Kent sighs. "Just leave her be, David. She needs to get it out of her system."

I continue destroying the Alpha's office, completely ignoring his words. How could they lie to me all my life?

I scream in frustration and shove yet another pile of papers off a nearby table, before picking up the light table and flinging it across the room. Dad flinches as it shatters into pieces, while Alpha Kent looks slightly amused.

Already I've overturned the Alpha's desk, what's left of his bookcase is now a pile in the corner, a few thousand scattered pages resembling his books are resting on the wooden floor. The lamp that once stood beside the door is now partially lodged in the wall beside the broken window, and the pictures of past Alpha's are a mere pile in the fireplace.

I drop to my knees, clutching my head in my hands as I sob.

How is it, that my whole life was ripped away from me in a matter of minutes? How is it, that my whole life was nothing but a bunch of secrets and lies? How could my father lie to me for twenty-two years? How could my mother betray me like that, knowing that all I wanted was what her and Dad shared so dearly?

"Alexis, oh, baby girl," Dad says painfully as he wraps his arms around me.

"Get off me!" I scream at him. Hurt flashes across his eyes. "You knew all along?"

"Yes," he says weakly.

"How could you keep this from me?"

"I had to."

"Oh, let me guess. It was your duty." I spit.

"Alexis," he whispers painfully.

"Don't Alexis me. How could you lie to me? Your own daughter!" I pause for a second, swallowing a lump in my throat. "How did you expect me to react?"

"Alexis, I'm so sorry."

"Answer me!" I snap.

"I thought you'd understand," he whispers once more.

"You thought I'd understand? How the fuck did you think that I'd understand that you lied to me my entire life, that my Alpha is my mother's mate and that I'm the future Alpha of my pack?"

"Is this a bad time?"

I whirl around to face the newcomer. Standing awkwardly in the doorway is none other than Coby.

"No, son. Your timing is impeccable," Alpha Kent beams. "Alexis, this is Coby. Coby, Alexis."

"Hi," Coby smiles.

He's way to cheerful for my liking. Does he not understand what's going on? Probably not, his dad probably lied to him too. Poor guy thinks he's about to be Alpha.

He glances around the room. "I'm eh, guessing they told you."

"Ye- Wait, you knew!"

"Of course I knew," he scoffs. "I mean, they couldn't not tell me. We're going to be mated soon enough."

I feel like I'm about to explode.

Dad stands guiltily in the only undestroyed corner of the room, waiting for my reaction. The Alpha sits in the chair by the window, his eyes dancing with amusement, as if he can't wait to see what I'm about to do next. Coby turns to face his dad, before his eyes return to me.

"What did you just say?" I grit out.

"We're going to be mates."

He takes a step away from me. Wise move buddy.

Keep calm, Alexis, I tell myself. I clench my fists and take a deep breath.

"Oh, they hadn't told you that part yet," Coby says sheepishly, finally realizing the situation. "Oops."

"Oops? That's all you can say? Do you know what," I continue before anyone can reply. "I am fucking sick of all this bullshit!"

"Alexis, listen," Dad starts.

"No, you listen. You lied to me my entire life! You knew exactly how I would react to this once I found out the truth, yet you still continued on about how much you missed Mom. Did you even love her?"

He opens his mouth to speak but I'm nowhere near done.

"And you," I say, rounding on Alpha Kent. "How can you sit there and laugh as if this is the funniest thing you've ever seen? I can't believe how fucking selfish you are! You're an embarrassment to our pack! Do you have any idea what you've put me through today?"

I turn to face Coby before Alpha Kent has time to have his say.

"I don't even know you, but I can already tell that you're one selfish bastard." He looks at me in total confusion. "You don't know what I'm talking about, do you?" I ask in disbelief.

He shakes his head in reply.

"You're giving up on your mate, before you even find her, just so you can mate with me and have the power that will come along with it. Well, I'm not fucking stupid. You can think again about mating with me and shove it up your fucking ass!"

I turn on my heel and walk out of the room, slamming the door behind me and leaving the three shocked male wolves behind me.

And that's how I ended up making my way along this road, in total darkness, with a half empty bottle of vodka in my hand.

I couldn't care less what people think of me right now. I've lost all faith in everything and everyone; except Leo.

I take another swig from the bottle and continue along the somewhat empty road.

"Alexis?"

I turn to the sound of the voice. "Leo? W-what are you doing here?" I ask when I see him pulled up beside me in a jeep. How did I not even here him approaching?

"I'm driving home. What are you doing walking in the dark?"

"Um, walking?"

"I can see that. Are you okay? Is that vodka?" He asks alarmed, pointing to the bottle in my hand.

I take another mouthful of the clear liquid. "Maybe," I answer sheepishly. "Do you want some?"

I extend the bottle towards him as he climbs out of the jeep.

"Sure, I'd love some."

He takes the bottle from my hand and pours the remaining liquid into onto the ground.

"Hey! I wasn't finished with that!" I pout, looking at the now empty bottle.

"You are now. Come on, let's get you home." He moves towards me after placing the empty bottle in the back of his jeep and wraps his arm around my waist.

"No!" I cry out. "L-Leo, I can't go back t-there. Not after what they did to me."

Leo runs a hand through his gorgeous black hair. I wonder if it's as fluffy as it looks?

"Okay then. You can stay at mine until you sober up."

"Thanks, Leo," I say as he helps me climb up into his jeep. "You're the best mate ever."
